Customers say

Customers overwhelmingly praise this food for its exceptional appeal to senior and picky dogs, with nearly all reporting their dogs eagerly consume it and show visible improvements in health and energy. The soft, moist texture is celebrated as ideal for older dogs with dental sensitivity or chewing difficulties. Reviewers highlight strong confidence in wholesome, recognizable ingredients like carrots and the absence of artificial additives, noting improvements in coat condition, digestion, and mobility. Many appreciate the practical portioning design and flexibility as a topper or mixer. A few note it works best as a supplement rather than a complete meal, but overwhelmingly, customers consider it a worthwhile, nutritious alternative to standard kibble.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dogs loved this food. They ate it so much better than any other food they have tried. It’s easy to store in the refrigerator. Easy to portion out with the packing and with my dogs being so picky, this is my new go to!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was incentivized to try this product in exchange for a review through Influenster. The dogs love it! I love that there are real ingredients that are good for the dogs.

My 15 year old shih tzu has always been an extremely picky eater. Many years ago, I found FreshPet, which she ate without reservation and really enjoyed it. More recently she’d been on the beef and bison recipe; however, she was recently diagnosed with Kidney disease, and was experiencing digestive upset, dehydration …the works. She was very low energy, vomiting and urinating a lot. Ended up being on fluids. So, I attempted to put her on a renal diet at the vet’s request. After spending lots of money and time trying different renal diet options, she had lost weight and stopped eating. So I resolved that I’d just put her back on the beef and bison recipe, because I know she’d eat it, and live out her days as healthy as possible. Well, when I went to purchase it, I happened to see this new senior dog recipe that had all the right ingredients for dogs with kidney disease (even though I know it is technically not renal diet approved). I kid you not. Not only did my dog find it palatable and has been eating it consistently, but she has stopped throwing up, she has stopped urinating as frequently as she was, she has A LOT more energy again (she even ran to the plate today, which left me floored), AND her coat looks better than it has in a very long time (so much so that after her last grooming, my mom said she looked younger for some reason). I have been completely amazed. I have been trying to figure out what was different, and it can only be the food! I just had to come write a review (not part of a promo or anything). I don’t know what will become of her health (I haven’t been back to check her levels yet), but I am so incredibly happy and grateful that I found something to give her a better quality of life in her senior years with this diagnosis! She seems so much happier and livelier, which gives me so much peace and hope! Thank you so much, Vital!!! Please keep this on the market!!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Customer Care

Thank you for your feedback! We strive to provide nourishing options that truly improve pets’ quality of life, and it’s wonderful to hear how this senior recipe has brought comfort, energy, and joy back to your Shih Tzu.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If our dog is one thing, he's a lover of food. I tried to take a good photo of him eating it, and for the life of me he wouldn't hold still. This dog food has been great overall. The packaging comes with lines that easily indicate portions, so we just cut them up, and divided them between two dogs. Seal them in zip lock bags, and store then in the refrigerator. Simple ingredients, with a limited assortment of veggies (carrots, peas, etc) and meat in an almost meatloaf-like consistency. While healthy, our dog (Waffle) scarfed it down quick, without a care in the world.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog absolutely loves this Freshpet Vital Healthy Aging Chicken and Salmon Recipe!! I cut some of it up and mixed it in with some of her kibble. She gobbled it up, and left the kibble behind. She is always excited when I get it out and can't wait for me to get it in her bowl. We will continue to use the Freshpet in her diet. I would recommend this dog food.
