Review this Product
Customers say
Customers overwhelmingly praise this canister filter for delivering crystal-clear water within hours and maintaining pristine tanks with minimal maintenance—many report cleaning only every three to four months. Reviewers highlight the powerful filtration, whisper-quiet operation, and intuitive setup as major upgrades from previous models. The robust construction and long-term reliability earn consistent comparisons to premium-quality equipment. A few users mention minor issues like hose cracking or the filter being heavy to move, but these concerns are vastly outweighed by strong satisfaction across the board.

Questions
Would the flow be too strong for a 40g tank filled to about 35g with a full grown female RES turtle? She poops a lot & I’m aware that I can adjust the water flow. I plan to upgrade her tank to a 125g
- Yes, this will help you on a longer run meaning longer cleanup interval, as you said you can adjust the flow with the valve on inlet or outlet value on the filter.

how many amps
- See/use the following equations: WATTS = AMPS X VOLTS AMPS = WATTS / VOLTS VOLTS = WATTS / AMPS The FX6 states 43 Watts. At 120v = 0.358A

Is there a canister filter with a more powerful motor As I have a very large tank And I need a helper that does not have to be below the tank
- Agreed with above that there are few filters more powerful that are built "ready." However, for a large tank, you should supplement. For example, I have a 125 Gallon Tank. I'm not sure what your's is. And I run two Fluval FX 6 under my tank and run two AC110's that hang on the back. I have two large Oscars, very messy fish and with a once-or-twice a week vacuum, I can clean these filters once every few months and I'm good.

Can I use the FX6 on a 60 gallon tank
- I use mine on a 55 gal with zero issues concerning too much flow. However my aquarium is heavily planted which likely distributes the flow a bit. Your results may vary.

I have 4 very large DoJo's 14"+ Can't find a filter that can keep up, they clog the pu tubes so bad with mucus they cease to allow water through, would Fx6 work
Will this work on a saltwater aquarium?
- Yes, I have it on mine.

How many gallons per hour
- Did you bother to read the description or look at the photos?? 925 gph (max output) Once fully loaded with filtration media & depending on max head height, expect less. (General rule of thumb is for under tank pumps, multiply the max gph by 0.75 (3/4) to get a more accurate flow rate.) Also, as the filtration media becomes more & more clogged; your gph will decrease at an increasing rate.

How many gph..would it work on a 100g reef..?
- 538 for gph flow rate but the actual amount pumped is up to 925. Also, keep in mind this system automatically stops every 12 hours to release any trapped air in the canister. I also noticed when I first start up the filter it pumps for a few minutes, stops to release the air and starts up again. Very intuitive system so don’t be alarmed if it does this. Fluval rates this system to maintain up to a 400 gallon tank. Through research, however, you will find most fish keeping experts recommend you only use this system for up to a 200 gallon tank. Once you surpass 200 gallon it’s recommended to grab a second filtration system. I have a 75 gallon tank but wanted the best on the market. This unit should work great for 100g and it is super easy to setup and maintain. If you want the best go with this system.

how is this for a reef tank
- I can't answer for a reef as I have FOWLR, but I could tell you that it's the best canister filter I've come across for a larger tank. I had to use it as my setup didn't allow for a proper sump / refugium. I thought I would have to break down the entire tank and start with a reef ready setup, when a friend suggested using the FX6. I don't even have my protein skimmer going and my tank is still very healthy. One caveat - you do have to stay on top of the maintenance on the filter (cleaning it out at least every few weeks) in order to keep the motor running properly. Also, goes through impellers periodically, but that's not a big deal considering how well it works. Hope that helps!

Is this recommended for use of saltwater tank's or just fresh water?
- It can be used for either. Lots of good youtube videos on how to maximize this filters potential. Just type in Fluval fx6 for saltwater on YouTube and you will get a number of good hits.
