Ignorant product stock

I bought the fluval fx2 for my turtle aquarium, I bought an oversized filter so it would help keep the water clean. However this product does not work as expected, the water does not stay clean. Then to top it off petco can't be bothered to carry replacement filters for this stupid product. It's absolutely asinine that you can buy the filter unit but not the replacement filters at one location. 10/10 WOULD NOT recommend this store or product.

No, I do not recommend this product.

This is my second FX2 ( I also have an FX6) I noticed some negative reviews and it completely shocks me. You cannot get any better than an FX canister filter for your fish tank little expensive but worth every headache that you will have without it less water changes, etc.. petco has a 30 day return policy when I did pick up my second FX2 a piece was broken in it, which makes sense because when you open the box, there’s no Styrofoam no type of cushioning around the canister at all I called the manager immediately she said come on down not one issue she switched it out for me thank you so much, I Think Her Name Was Lisa, and the League City Petco.

Yes, I recommend this product.

This is my 2nd time buying a filter during a petco sale and receiving a previously opened package, missing components. Response " Unfortunately, we are unable to issue a replacement for the damaged item at this time as it is currently out of stock, with no estimated restock date. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused." I'm starting to think the sales are just to get rid of returned merchandise. Last time it was the same with an AquaClear/Fluval HOB filter. Filter scuffed, missing packaging and components. I can't speak to if the filter works well because I have to buy the parts I'm missing before setting it up. Not impressed so far - it's even missing the rubber feet at the bottom. If you're interested in this filter I would purchase elsewhere. (Also they advertised 50% off but they also have it listed about $60.00 more than all the competitors currently, so sometimes their sales aren't really as good as they sound)

No, I do not recommend this product.

Easy to set up. Nice features that my 407 didn’t have. Good output flow.

I've been running the FX2 on my 55 gallon community tank and I'm really glad I made the switch. Water is much clearer. I was previously running two Tidal 110's, and I like them fine but was ready to hear less water noise and have a more complete and contained system for this tank. No regrets. Set up does take a bit, especially for me as this was the first time I'd set up a canister. I had to make some modifications on the hoses since 55's aren't as deep as what the connectors are set up for, but it's running splendidly. I only wish there was an adapter to add to the output flow to customize the redirect of the output.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Functional but not worth the cost

I have to say I'm disappointed in this filter. I keep Malawi cichlids in a 46 gallon bow front tank. Had been running multiple smaller and cheaper filters that were "50 gallon tank" size that worked great in tandem. I thought I'd consolidate and buy a single more powerful filter and settled on the "up to 175 gallon" FX2 thinking it was overkill for a less than 50 tank and that a Fluval might be an upgrade from what I had. Ultimately: 1 ) It does not keep the tank as clear as my prior filters did; and 2) It is not very quiet. It's not unbelievably loud, but there is noticeable noise from both the impeller/motor running and also noise created from the fact that it can't seem to clear all the air out of the canister so there is a constant gurgling/bubbling noise even after I've tried to clear it and restart it numerous times. All in all, I wouldn't recommend this filter given the other options out there at similar or lower prices.

No, I do not recommend this product.

So far, very impressed. Just switched from Aqua Clear HOB, and already the water is substantially clearer. Some of the instructions don’t really make sense, especially the lament of the outlet jets, but otherwise no complaints at this point.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 2 of 2 Questions

Is this filter enough for a 75g community tank?

Does this have the same size hose as the larger FX units?  I want to use the Fluval inline clarifier but I’m told the hose is smaller.  why is it so difficult to get info about the hose sizes of these things?  Seems odd.. or worse!

    1. I bought a Fluval FX2 recently and purchased an extra hose from fluval as well. When I purchased the hose the packaging reads the hose is for the FX2, FX4, & FX6. As I understand the Inline Clarifier is for the smaller canisters filters (the 07 series filters). You would have to buy the FX UVC Unit for the FX series. The inline clarifier is for the 07 Canister Series which have smaller hoses. Yes I compared hose sizes of the Fluval 407 and the FX2. FX2 hose is larger than the 407 canister filter. Hope this helps
