I use this in my saltwater aquarium as a biofilter and home for beneficial bacteria, they thrive in it and so far its outperforming my expectations. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality as well, didn’t require a pre-rinse before adding to my tank. Great quality for custom designing a filtration.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Good Bio-media. I used it in the bottom of my canister filter as both mechanical and bio layer. Kept in a single layer it should absorb lots of bacteria for the bio filtration.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    1. Thank you for your question. Instant Amazon is safe to use with inverts, shrimp & snails.

which tray in the 206 would you put the prefilter media?

    1. Thank you for your question. You will want to place Fluval Pre-Filter Media in the lowest filter module of your Fluval 06 Multi-Stage aquarium canister filter.

Do you need to remove the carbon?

    1. Thank you for your inquiry to Drs. Foster and Smith. The Marc Weiss Instant Amazon can be used with carbon in the filter system as the carbon will not remove it. It is a water softener. Also this item, when used properly, will not raise the PH. For new tanks or hard water you may need to use a double dose. This item will neutralize ammonia and will turn the waste into fertilizer also it does not support algae growth. Lrb

How Much for a Fluval 204?

    1. Thank you for your question. Please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-381-7179 or email Customerservice@DrsFosterSmith.com as more information is needed to better answer your question.

Can or should Instant Amazon be used with Blackwater Extract?

    1. Thank you for your question. You could use the Instant Amazon with the Blackwater Extract, but it would most likely not be needed, as the items basically do the same thing, so it may be more like double dosing your aquarium. tmb
