If you have sand, do not purchase this. The impeller and motor will go bad almost instantly. It makes a terrible grinding sound, and rattles. I tried three different ones, all gave out within a month. Customer service warranty is a joke, they do not help. I gave up with these and changed to the 307 canister. If you have gravel, it’s much better and quieter. Will eventually be changing that as well.

Im on my 3rd Machine. one stopped working after 3 months, its replacement lasted about 5 months, today the third one went silent in the middle of the night it lasted 8 months. I cant have unreliable life support. I am a 30+ year fresh fish keeper. I had units last years with no issues. I gave this company a chance. Today was the last straw.

Does a great job of filtering as evidenced by the dirty media, very simple to clean w lift up handles, bought a clip on diffuser from Epsy because a selected AC 70 for a 30gal community tank of cardinals, rummy nose & betta. I used a filter bag to hold bioballs for ease of cleaning. A can buy generic media & cut to fit so saving there. Love the prefer.

I had this filter for about a month exactly and just like the other comments I should’ve listened the motor just stopped working, thankfully I was home and was within feet of it and heard a little click and the filter just stopped working, I tried different things and just like the comments of most, the motor just failed. Ended up returning and getting a bigger and better brand that I have known should’ve in the first place but seeing this was a good budget friendly extra purchase I tried. TAJE OFF THE SHELVES, DONT BUY.

I had been using canister filters for several years for my turtle tank. One frustrating thing about the canister filters was priming them! Though they had priming pumps, they were horrible and I had to devise different ways to prime them so they'd start the siphoning process. Plus, they didn't seem to last more than a couple of years before the motor either burned out or the impeller went faulty. And forget about getting parts. Even if you could, taking the housings apart was such a delicate and difficult process, I would just give up and get a new one. So, after my last canister filter crapped out, I did some research to see if I could discover a different approach and I came across the Fluvial AC70. After watching some videos reviewing and setting up the unit, I decided to pull the trigger. I wish I had discovered this earlier! Even though I haven't had it for very long, I can confidently say I'm never going back to a canister filter. There are no hoses to cut and install, just a hard plastic collection tube that extends into the water and the entire unit hangs off the side of the tank. How easy is that?! And priming was easy. I just poured water into the reservoir to the max fill line and after about thirty seconds, the filter got the siphoning action going. And once the filter got going, it really moved water! My turtles love the litter waterfall and have been playing under it. Granted, it's not quiet, but the sound of the water dropping into the tank is calming.

I bought this about 6 weeks ago appr Pump stopped 3 times and the 3rd time burned the motor up. Started great flowed really good. Im not sure why the pump burnt up. But i bought a AC 70 thinking bigger was better . I had a the AC 30 and it worked just fine and it took longer to clean tank but motor out lasted the AC 70.
