There was a small crack on the bottom that I did not see till about a month of getting this. I just now tried to set up my tank and THank goodness I had seen the leak otherwise my 60 gallon breeder would have leaked all over my home. I wish I could exchange this but because I order this online not to mention I got this well over 8 weeks ago I have a $80 HOB filter thats is nothing more then a paper weight. I am tired of Petco selling products that come with cracks and I have no record to return them.

Right out of the box the box the impeller is making a loud grinding noise. I have run aqua clear filters for years and never had this problem before right out of the box. In the past after years of use they might get a little loud and require a impeller replacement. I even got a replacement impeller off amazon...for another $20 to see if I could quite it down but it almost seemed like it got louder. This either appears to be a just loud filter, as some of the reviews said or I have a bad motor or motor housing. I will be returning. I gave two stars because its great at filtering but it's just too loud for my living room. I currently have a Fluval 307 canister filter running and you can barely hear it.

Normally a huge fluval fan but not this time. Brand new out the box the motor had a very loud growl. I immediately contacted fluval in the same day of purchase. After 3 weeks of run around and multiple pictures (which meant removing/draining the filter each time) they finally said they would replace it….if I send them a picture of the cord cut from the motor. Only problem is I had to get this filter up and running for this new tank so I cannot go without a filter. They offered to bill me $50 for a whole new filter that could be refunded as long as I send them the cut cord photo within 30 days. No offense but for a brand new unit I shouldn’t have to lay out more money just to get a product that works correctly. Big thumbs down to fluval customer service

Purchased for our new 75 gallon set up. Properly primed, water filled to the outflow and I don’t notice the sound of it at all. Day three of cycling and water has continuously stayed clear of debris, moving plants, fixing substrate. I’m pleased and will be purchasing again for the next setup.
