Saw this for $15 and thought I scored. All of my cat's claws keep getting stuck in it. One got her claw stuck so bad she was screaming and twisted her claw. It was so bad I've never heard her scream like that and I was trying to help her but she didn't want my help. I feel so horrible this thing is going straight to the trash! Please don't put your kitty through the same pain. It's not worth it.

Price was right. Top part with the rope was great. It's the bottom gray loop carpet that is the problem. Our cat's claws kept getting caught in the carpet and finally one time was bad enough he was crying out because he had twisted his claw around in a way it was hurting him. When I tried to help free him he was biting and scratching me because it hurt him so much. Cannot recommend if your cat has full claws. We don't trim his nails so maybe that's the issue. We will get him an all rope post without the loop carpet.

Okay, I don't know what it is about this scratching post, but it has SAVED our couch! She had a whole cat condo filled with scratchers and she enjoyed her shorter one, but I suspected my thirteen-pound-but-athletic couch liked scratching our armrests because it allowed her to stretch up. My Petco was getting a ton of new scratchers and was clearing out inventory so I snapped it up for 15 bucks. Best 15 bucks I ever spent on my cat. She loves the thinness of the post because she can wrap around it and lie on her back and scratch sideways. It's become a sort of den for her; she brings her toys to it and perches by it trilling as an invitation to play. I will say I can tell it won't last super long; she's had her other scratching posts about 8 months and they're just starting to show wear, whereas this has only been a few weeks. Still, for such a low price (the others were more expensive even compared to this at full price) it is so worth it for her joy and not destroying my couch anymore.

Im happy my only cat loves this scratcher more than any I have ever purchased. This is the 5th one I have bought.The price is great.BUT WITHIN 3 WEEKS its shredded,completely. I trim my cat's nails regularly too.I guess the fact that he loves it is the plus in all this.I probably will start shopping for something different because its now obvious that these are cheap cheap cheap for a reason.They dont last.

My kitties really love this but have torn it apart…down to the cardboard! I see you can unscrew the post from the base. It would be great if a replacement post was available as the base is still in great condition. Any plans for this?

If you are buying this post online, it is regularly on sale for $14.49 from Petco, and from Amazon. So, I personally buy a couple of them every 6 months or so. I have two cats, so one post only lasts few months. In any case, it would be more cost effective to purchase them on sale, as the post alone would cost you just about the same, or more, if they were to sell them separately. Currently, they do not though.
