Customers say

Customers praise this soft recovery cone for superior comfort and mobility compared to rigid plastic alternatives, noting dogs can move, sleep, and navigate home more easily. Many highlight the flexible design, transparent panels, and practical features like Velcro attachment and washable material. However, a substantial portion report durability concerns, particularly with larger or chew-prone dogs, describing the material as flimsy or easily torn. Some note the cone is too short to prevent access to side incisions or that Velcro strips fail to adhere properly. While effective for minor procedures and small dogs, many find it unreliable for critical post-surgical protection.

Deceiving and Disappointing

Augiesmom

I bought an XL back in May that was great but got lost in a move. I recently purchased another XL and didn’t realize until I got home that the sizing is NOT the same despite the size guide claiming it is. The length and circumstance are both several inches shorter than it should be. I had to make do and jerry rig it for the night to keep my dog away from his wound so I now cannot return it and am out $40. Very disappointing to be lied to about a product during a critical time for my dogs medical problem.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Terrible, awful smell!

Love my dog

It smells terrible! It send comfortable enough, but there is a very strong petroleum smell to it that won't go away. I felt awful having it so close to my dog's nose I couldn't let him wear it. I'm hoping to be able to return it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Really good product

Adjustable fit. Comfortable than donut. And worked better than a flexible cone and surgical suit. Doesn’t come off when put through collar. Long enough where he cannot reach incision. Overall perfect.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great cone for long recoveries

RobS10

Due to a broken toe, our 65 pound high energy dog has been in a splint of the last two months. We started out with the usual clear, hard plastic cone from the vet. It's fine for a couple days, but then becomes way too difficult - it's a huge shock to her when she runs into anything, takes paint off our woodwork, and can really hurt if she runs into us wearing shorts. We had an all black soft cone left over from when we had her spayed, but it was completely dark inside and freaked her out moving around much, and wouldn't have worked out for the length of time she needed it. We tried the Zen Cone as it has panels of clear plastic to let light in, and allow her to see SOMETHING. It has the benefits of the old black soft cone (no hard jarring when she runs into things, easier on the woodwork, and us!), but benefits of more light of the clear plastic vet-issued hard cone. My only reservation is the grabby side of the Velcro strip on the outside sticks to a lot of stuff...needs a ribbon of the other side of Velcro to stick on it to.

Yes, I recommend this product.

This cone for my 120lb Akita through his bloat surgery recovery. It did have to be readjusted at times, but he seemed much more comfortable with this than a regular plastic cone.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 10 of 42 Questions

How should this be washed ? On gentle or normal will do? Also, does it keep its shape or becomes flimsy after wash?

Is the Zen collar bulky. I've tried several soft cones but too heavy, clunky.

    1. No it is really light. My dog could lay down comfortable in it and could even jump through the doggie door with it on. I bought the one from the vet (before buying this cone) and my dog was so freaked out by it and it was so heavy. I recommend this cone for your fur baby.

If my dog chews it up in the first day while wearing it can it be returned?

    1. If placed on dog properly it cannot be chewed on.

What is the measurement of the large from the inner edge that goes around the neck, to the outer edge?

Do you have to use this cone with a collar or can it be used without a collar?

      1. It can be used without a collar no problem. The collar will keep it from spinning around but it'll stay on just fine

I am thinking of using this to cut my cats nails so she does not bite me.  She is 5 lbs but cap pack a big bite since she has been older- 16 years now.  Will this work?

What is the measurement from the neck to the end of the cone for the XL

Does this collar prevent them from pawing at their eye? Ours just had an eye procedure and is miserable in the plastic cone.

          1. Just make sure you get right size. Meaning it's wide enough so that the fabric goes past his nose.

My dog -30 lbs- is licking her front paw.  will this cone work for her

I have 2 black labs age who just recently got neutured. They weigh approx. 56lbs.each. Will this help them stop licking their wounds and can they sleep with this on? I don't care for the plastic cones.

            1. Yes to all of the above. I would bet that you and your Labs will be much happier with the soft cones.
