Great starter canister filter. I have two od these, both for my 75gallon tanks (they each also have a sponge filter). I bought this even after seeing these reviews, after further looking into fish forums, majority are positive. This is easy to set up, super quiet and has been running for about a year. I did change out the tubing for black from a hardware store (I hate seeing the grime inside the clear tubes.) I love the option of an additional HOB or a spray bar. I have one of each set up and they work in their own way. My Cichlids love the spray bar for movement in the water.

Bought mine in early March on a great discount. 100% satisfied with the purchase. I love the hob polishing units, they add a ton of surface agitation and air to the system. Very quiet and easy to use. While the purge at startup can be a little messy it’s at least easy to do.

This canister filter works quite well and silent. I got it at discounted price. But, I was really surprised that ENERGY CONSUMPTION is much more HIGHER than competitors. It consumes 158W !! Other company's models are usually 16~30W... I could feel head part of this filter is warm. This means that it's like buying a 50W Filter with 100W Heater... That's why Aqueon does not disclose energy consumption in the product information or outside of the box. This information could only be found in the user's guidebook.

Bought this for my 75 gallon. All it did was grind and was super noisy. Tried everything I could find online, tearing down, shaking to get air out, starting and stopping howbthe directions said. At the end of the day it went back to the store.

I just brought this filter, it's my first canister filter, fir my 125 gallon aquarium. It does an amazing job (I have 1 oscar, 3 severums, 4 blood parrots, 1 common pleco). One thing I wish it did have is a lift handle.

I both this 2 months ago, I bought two of them. Two 400 g filters for my 250 gallon tank and my water has not been clear once! The particles are still crazy. I’ve added more media. Changed positions. $400 down the drain. Extremely disappointed. Do not waste your money!

This is the first scathing review I have ever written about anything. Aqueon canister “quietflow” (not quiet!) filter and several of their heaters have time and time again shown me how terrible I think their products are. The heaters 50% of the time just don’t work. They just stop and then there is no way to know something’s wrong until the water is way too cold. The filter is terrible. To clean the pieces, I wind up having to pull apart the hoses because the valves are cheap and don’t work well. The suction and other parts of the input hose do not work properly. All of the plastic of this filter makes for extreme vulnerability. I am a handy person and well read about filters and such. I didn’t want this filter but was given it. It worked ok for two months. Then when changing something behind the glass, the filter stopped and it’s been a nightmare ever since. It is just SO inconsistent, despite doing everything the way it says to. Don’t buy this product, and petco and other stores need to find another company to support. I have met many fish lovers who despised Aqueon heaters. I’m hoping my filter will start to work again, but it feels very cheap to me and I have very low expectations now. Again, I never write such terrible reviews, but as the shortcomings of this company put my fish’s’ lives and well-being at risk and because they are not inexpensive products, I am saying something. I’m so bummed that after only two months, the filter is a giant nightmare. :(

Had some issues with sound and flow, but aqueon customer service was extremely helpful and fixed the issues quickly. Top notch service all around.
