My squirrel is in pain. What should I do and can I give him medicine?

Poor Simon! Unfortunately, there aren't any over the counter eye drops that would help him feel better. I think the best option would be for them to take him to a vet that sees hamsters. He could have a cut or ulcer on his eye that needs to be address. He may need some pain meds that are safe for hamsters and also some antibiotic eye drops depending on what the problem is. It is an emergency, please try and take Simon to your nearest open vet or local emergency service to get him seen. There are no over the counter medications that would be safe to administer at home, I am afraid.

I would be worried because Squeaky is clearly in pain, and he could have internal injuries. Unfortunately you cannot give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. He really should see a vet first thing in the morning. This does sound like a reasonable dose that's on the high end of the recommended range, however, there are better pain reliever choices available through your veterinarian that run less risk of gastrointestinal bleeding in rats than ibuprofen does. While this is unlikely to occur with one dose at this amount, the longer it's used, the more GI irritation will occur. I strongly suggest bringing Liquor to the vet for evaluation of his twisted or broken ankle as soon as possible, especially if he is non-weight bearing (not putting any pressure on it at all) or if the area appears swollen. I'm sorry that you've had this experience. Your veterinarian should definitely offer pain medication as an option anytime your pet seems painful or uncomfortable. If your feel that your current veterinarian isn't very proactive about this, you may want to look for a different vet who is. And you can always ask about pain medication as an option, if you think your pet is uncomfortable or having a hard time getting around.

Hello, I would recommend taking Chip into a veterinarian as soon as possible. Dull behavior, weight loss, and vomiting are signs of serious disease. I worry that cancer or organ failure is possible. Small animals will also become dehydrated more quickly, and this can make the disease worse. Your vet can guide you best once they have performed a physical exam.
