Thanks for reaching out about Bun Bun. Would describe it as flakey skin or loose? Loose lends one to believe the skin is sloughing. Flakey skin could be due to parasites, an infection, skin inflammation (multiple causes). Another concern might be myxomatosis, which is usually transmitted via a mosquito bite.. If his coat is as healthy as it appears in the photo you provided, I would not worry about this behavior at all. Rabbits can get a variety of skin diseases so be on the loom out for any redness, hair loss or flaking of the skin. As long as the twitching is mild and it is not waking Bugsy up from sleep then I would not be too concerned about it. Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It looks like a superficial wound or scratch. Luka may have lost one of his whiskers, it will grow back. You should clean this area twice daily with cotton buds and warm, boiled water or an antiseptic skin solution (for example 4% Hibiclens). As long as it is healing OK and it is not bothering Luka you can manage this at home. However, if you notice that the lip becomes swollen or painful, you should take Luka to your local vets for an appointment.

It's hard to tell from photo, but that looks like some superficial skin hanging down from the surface of the jawline. If this is the case, there is likely an open wound. The skin that is hanging either needs to be trimmed off or it needs to be sutured back into place. This should be done by a professional to ensure the best outcome, and to allow you to obtain oral antibiotics and pain medication. When rabbits aren't feeling well, they can often stop eating which is a recipe for disaster unfortunately. I would have Totoro checked out some time soon to be examined.

If you see swelling, warmth to the touch, extreme redness, and pus, have him seen by a vet. Should it not get better or gets bigger, also have him seen by a vet. Keep the area clean and dry.
