Why won't my pet squirrel come back? Did it lose its memory or scent?

It is not unusual for a cat to come back home and they are good tracing back their way home. If he has a microchip you can check if he has been found at any of the local shelters. Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I'm sorry Meenu is not doing well. I recommend you find an exotics veterinarian asap. If he was not born in captivity but was a wild squirrel you attempted to raise he may have parasites or be dealing with malnutrition if he was not on an approriate formula. I would search for an exotics specialist asap. They may want to test for parasites and may be able to offer a critical formula that he can be syringe fed. Good luck.

I would strongly recommend trying to find a wildlife rehabilitator are in your area that can take Austin. In most areas it is illegal to keep wildlife is pets without special permit. And that's because it's difficult to keep them healthy and thriving, baby squirrels tend not to do very well race singly they should be kept with a group of babies of similar age. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am so sorry about Moli! Outdoor cats, especially not spayed or neutered will wander. The fact she did return after 11 days makes be think that her being gone 2 days is too soon to say something bad happened. The risk to outdoor cats are: injuries from vehicles, other animals and finding her homes. The inured back leg could be from a fight, being hit by a car or falling from something. You can ask around and post fliers and see if anyone has seen her or know what might have happened. The only thing to do if she comes back is to have her spayed and keep her 100% indoors to prevent wandering off. I hope she returns soon!

This sounds potentially quite dangerous as Bun Bun could suffer trauma or predation while out on her adventures. I would recommend keeping her in a rabbit enclosure or a closed room inside your house, especially when you’re leaving the house and not supervising her. She can free roam when you’re there to keep an eye on her, but if you’re opening the door to leave or having people over, she should be confined. This will prevent her running out the door again. As for not remembering your sister, she probably does but may still be on high alert from her outside events and may need some time to calm down and respond more normally to people. As a prey species, rabbits are always on high alert for dangers, and the chemicals in her body need some time to adjust to the change in scenario.
