Who's a good reptile vet for my tortoise near Tri-Cities, WA?

The veterinarians that do the vaccination clinics are not able to examine exotics, but many Petcos now have in-clinic facilities & it is possible that the veterinarian may be knowledgeable about RESs. I would call all the Petcos within your vicinity & see if there is anyone available to help, otherwise, you will need to find a vet that includes exotics in their practice. Sounds like she has an upper respiratory infection (URI). You need to get her to a reptile vet as soon as you can. She will need antibiotics to get this to clear up. Many tortoises get URI if they get too cold when they are hibernating. That is my best guess as to what happened here. You definitely need a vet that is used to treating reptiles. Hello, thank you for using PetCoach. The damage to the plastron is most likely from either trauma or infection. I have never seen something like this due to parasites. You should really try to find a local veterinarian to examine him as he likely needs more in depth treatment than what you can provide at home with over the counter remedies. You may need to travel towards Green Bay in order to find a reptile veterinarian. I found a few in that area. Thanks for reaching out about your turtle. Unfortunately, the pictures are too dark to determine a lesion. A veterinary visit would work the best but if none available you could try applying a topical antibiotics ointment. A petroleum based product will adhere better in water but is still likely to wash off. Keep water quality as pristine as possible. Systemic antibiotics (injections) would improve chance of success. Paraplegia in a reptile is a very bad prognostic indicator. I would call up the company who shipped this animal to you right away and let them know what is hapening. Unfortunately, many of these companies have disclaimers regarding injuries or illness during shipping, so they may not be so willing to help you. In terms of medical care for your reptiles, I just did a quick look into your surrounding area. There are a couple of doctors in East Lansing and Grand Rapids who appear to treat reptiles. Because there aren't many around, many times they are happy to just talk to your on the telephone if you give them a call and describe what is going on. Hope this helps.
