Can female sulcata tortoises flash their parts or is it a prolapse?

Updated on September 23, 2025

Pet's info: Reptile | Tortoise | Female

Male sulcatas flash their penises. A friend said his female sulcata flashed her parts. Apparently it's been to a vet who said she flushed what's like a hemipenis. I'm concerned it is a uterine prolapse. My question is, can females flash?

Thanks for reaching out about Miss T. No females do not flash. Females can strain to lay eggs, have an intestinal blockage, or a bladder stone. If a radiograph has not been taken, one needs to be reviewed. It is important to find the reason.
Good luck.
