Bearded dragon not pooping? How to help impaction and what to feed?

Updated on September 23, 2025

Pet's info: Reptile | Bearded Dragon | Male | unneutered

My bearded dragon has been impacted for a little over 2 weeks now I've tried to get him to poop in all the ways that I have read online, to no avail he does not seem L but he still has not pooped. I heard that if you feed them leeks that it will help with the impaction my question is how do I prepare them for him and the best way to ensure that he poops? And I'm open to any other suggestions as

The best treatment is a good soak in a warm bath, at least 30 minutes. Massage the abdomen, front to back, during the soak to stimulate defecation.
Uncooked leeks can be fed, but no more than once a week. It is possible your beardie may not eat them though. You can offer 2-3 blueberries instead. They are healthier and a good source of fiber.
Confirm proper temps in the cage. Low temps can affect digestion in reptiles.
See your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles if Cody has difficulty defecation or remains impacted.

Check the temperature in his enclosure. Low temps can affect digestion in reptiles. They need heat to properly digest.
Continue to soak in a warm 50/50 solution of water and unflavored PediaLyte. Continue with abdominal massage during the soaks. This will help with hydration and defecation.
Feed only freshly molted meal worms. They are easier to digest. Appropriately sized crickets or dubia roaches can also be offered. A commercial beardie diet or fresh, chopped greens and vegetables should also be made available.
