Yorkie puppy acting scared and snapping after vaccine shots?

My suspicion is that this is injection-site pain and not a "true" vaccine reaction, however I do know that dogs (especially small ones) can be pretty painful in the limb they were vaccinated in for up to 36 hours afterwards. I wouldn't call it "normal" but we definitely see it - both of my own small dogs were painful after their last lepto vaccine. Because they can be pretty miserable, I would recommend calling your vet and asking if they might dispense a bit of pain relief - perhaps only 2 - 3 days worth - to make sure Ted is comfortable over the weekend. And if you see other more concerning signs - swelling about the head or face, difficulty breathing, vomiting, collapse - take him right into an emergency facility.

Chief may be having a vaccine reaction or may just be having pain from the vaccine. I recommend to call your veterinarian and let them know what is happening. Such a reaction to vaccinations are not completely uncommon, these usually resolve without treatment within 24 hours. if it has been more than 24 hours and she is still not herself i would advise you to contact your vet, sometimes pain killers are needed. in some more rare cases vaccination reaction can cause more long lasting issues, but this is extremely rare.

They can cause soreness at the area of injection and mild general malaise, which would explain Snapple's unwillingness to move and whimpering when you try to touch her. This will probably abate over the next day, but if you notice any other symptoms such as swelling, difficulty breathing, vomiting, or diarrhea, please call your vet as these may indicate a more serious reaction. This is very unlikely as most severe vaccine reactions occur within an hour of the shots, but it is always better to be safe than sorry. If she's still acting puny tomorrow, feel free to call your vet and let them know. They may be able to recommend or prescribe an anti-inflammatory/pain reliever that will make her feel much better. Arlo might have a little pain at his injection site, or it’s possible that he has some back or neck pain. If you’re not sure exactly where he’s painful I’d recommend making an appointment to see your vet. If you think it’s the injection site you could apply a warm compress and contact your vet to get a prescription a safe pain medication.

Hello there! I'm sorry Max isn't himself tonight. It is normal that a dog can be lethargic after receiving their vaccines, and you could even see a decrease in appetite. I would be concerned if he was experiencing persistent vomiting and diarrhea, itchy skin or hives, swelling around the muzzle, face, or eyes, severe coughing, difficulty breathing, or collapse. Should you see any off those signs, I would rush him into a vet immediately. The side effects of the vaccines should pass within 24-48 hours, but if he still isn't himself after that time, it would be a good idea to have him seen by a vet. Given that he has a heart murmur, that could also be a cause of him not acting normally, and that should be evaluated by a vet. Good luck, I hope this helps!

He will be fine in the long term but it is possible for him to have a reaction the vaccine such as swelling or redness or vomiting or diarrhea. The best thing to do is check the records and make sure they are under the correct owner and animal name at the vet because sometimes they can have 2 files of the same animal under different owners ( yours and your parents) and not realize they are the same. From there ask them to adjust the reminds so you only have him being due in 1-3 years from now based on your areas laws
