Do I need to wash off dog fly repellent? How long does it stay on?

You can try a repellent product like Advantix that is approved for dogs and to repel flies. I do not recommend spraying OFF on pets. If it has been longer than that it is possible that it is not working. If you are sure that the cause of the bites is mosquitoes and not mites then you may want to consider getting another repellent medicine. Your vet should be able to provide you with the name of the one that works best in your area. If you are not sure that the bites are caused by mosquitoes and think this may be also caused by mites, you will need to see your vet with your dogs for an exam and mite treatment.

You can wash the product off his har with Dawn dish soap (it is a grease/oil remover). Then wait 24 hours and apply the Frontline again. If you can't get the topical product on him effectively you may need to switch to an oral product or use a Seresto collar. One Seresto collar lasts up to 8 months. I'm sorry Romeo has fleas! You do not wash the Pronyl OTC off, it has to stay on the skin so it can be absorbed and remain effective for four weeks. Flea collars are not the best, they often cause skin reactions and are not very effective. The Pronyl should be enough to kill the fleas. I do not recommend using flea collars on pets. If he has fleas, you will need to disinfect the environment. Wash his bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. Do the same with your bedding, as if he's been sleeping under the covers, you may have fleas in your bed as well. Poor doggie. Visit your local pet store, they sell over the counter fly repellent cream that will keep the flies away. And if there are sores on the ears apply a thin layer of Neosporin after cleaning them with a mild soap and warm water (i.e. Dove).
