Buying an Olde English Bulldogge? How to verify breed & registry?

The Olde Tyme Bulldog is suppose to represent the old breed standard for the English Bulldog. This is suppose to be what the breed looked like as a working dog a century ago. The OTB is taller, longer bodies, less stocky, a smaller head and a less pronounced flat muzzle. The British or English Bulldog is the breed most of us are more familiar with. To accurately know your dogs breed it would be based on both of Duke's parents being registered with a legitimate registration organization like the AKC. That is the only way you could prove to someone buying Duke's puppies, if you chose to breed him. Without proof of lineage it is hard. You may have to wait until he is full grown to see how he looks. There are DNA blood tests that can help but personally I think the accuracy isn't the best. Hello. First, you can ask the breeder for proof of registration for both puppy parents. Then, look at lots of pictures of purebred Golden puppies. When you visit the litter, are all the puppies pretty similar with the characteristics seen in this puppy breed? If the puppies are not pure, you should see some discrepancies, such as different coat lengths, or white spots on the chest or paws. This can certainly be a hot button topic for many dog lovers! :) Personally, I know quite a few lovely goldendoodles and don't have any particular ethical problems with buying one as long as the breeder is doing his/her due diligence - screening the parents for health problems like hip and elbow dysplasia, hereditary eye problems, heart issues, etc. Just like getting a purebred puppy, make sure to do your homework and only buy from a responsible breeder with healthy, good-natured dogs. As long as you do that, I don't see any problem with it at all.
