My unspayed dog with a broken leg is vomiting and has discharge

I would be very concerned about Bubbles, and take her into a vet immediately. I see that she isn't spayed, which means she can develop a life threatening infection of the uterus called a pyometra. A pyometra is fatal without treatment, and it causes vomiting, weakness, and lethargy, all signs she is showing. Without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain if she has one or not, but because of the seriousness of a pyometra I would take her into vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. It sounds like your vet may have been suspicious she had a pyometra and tried treating it medically with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. Unfortunately the medical route often isn't successful, and surgery is needed to treat it. This means spaying her. I would take her back into the vet immediately, as this is a medical emergency. Unfortunately, a uterine infection can become a common secondary issue with what you are describing. I would recommend having her re-checked by her regular veterinarian to ensure that everything is improving, and she wouldn't need to be spayed to resolve the issue. Good luck!

Hi. It sounds like Molly is pretty sick and weak. She should be checked out immediately. She could be constipated, have eaten something she shouldn't have, or have a severe kind of infection making her not feel well. With her being unspayed, we worry about pyometra. This is a life threatening infection in the uterus due to hormone changes that causes lethargy, vomiting, weakness, increased water drinking, and even death if not intervened quickly. The treatment is to spay her on an emergency basis. You diagnose it by history, bloodwork, x-rays /- an ultrasound. Get her in right away.

Not eating for so long is very concerning. Brownish vomitus likely contains blood, and a swollen tummy can be a sign of liver failure, a tumor, a serious infection, pancreatitis, or an intestinal blockage or bloat. By now this is an emergency and I strongly recommend you take Brooklynn to a vet or Pet ER right away. The vet will need to do x-rays and some blood tests, possibly and ultrasound to find out what the problem is.
