How to stop family from feeding my allergic dog harmful human food?

This is a difficult situation. Basically you cannot do anything other than suggest that they feed a complete dogfood to their dogs. You can tell them that they do not eat dog food, so why should a dog eat human food? Unfortunately you will not be able to do anything about it should they not listen to you.

I recommend you have a crate in another room and feed him his dinner when you both are eating yours. As long as he’s a normal weight you are not starving him. Dogs love people food and once someone starts feeding it to them they will beg and eat it regardless if they have had enough food of their own. As far as training I recommend you work with him on a leash in your yard away from your mother’s distractions. Also you and Snaccs may enjoy going to a group obedience class. That will help him listen to you and you can work together with the distraction of other people and dogs. He’s still young so training will help so keep up what you can. Immediately discontinue feeding all treats or snacks. Start feeding a high quality canned or dry dog food. Dogs thrive on routine, so feed Zoe on a consistent schedule. Prepare her food at the appointed time and leave it down for 20 minutes before picking it up whether she has eaten or not. Repeat this at the next mealtime. You can mix in some warm water or a teaspoon of plain baby food (nothing with garlic, onion or raisins/grapes) to stimulate the appetite. You can also try other novel proteins like rabbit, venison, or kangaroo based dog foods.

I guess the answer will depend also on his age, however I would strongly suggest training done by a professional trainer that knows hounds breeds well and respects them from what they are. I have a basset-hound cross and she also loves to vacuum the floors but thankfully does not swallow everything she finds along the way, The only thing that worked with her was training, as she is very very food oriented ! Poor Caeser! Skin allergies can be so frustrating. If you haven't already, I would consider a prescription hypoallergenic diet like hill's science diet Z/D or their limited ingredient diet or purina's HA diet. A food trial consists of 12 weeks of ONLY these food and the approved treats. If you don't want to go to the expense of these foods, you can try an OTC limited ingredient diet. My favorite is natural balance venison and sweet potato. Chicken and beef are the most common causes of food allergies. As far as the environmental allergies, I would talk to your vet about a long term medication like apoquel. This has been a game changer for a lot of my allergies patients. Finally, considering his loose stool, this could be due to the food or something else entirely. I would have your vet take a look at his stool for parasites, campylobacter and giardia. These can all cause GI problems and can be easily treated. You may also talk to your vet about whether or not Pepcid would be a good option for Caeser. If the vomiting most commonly occurs first thing in the morning before he eats, he could have a small case of acid reflux. This is usually easily fixed by giving Pepcid right before bed time. I would talk to your vet about the appropriate dose for him and whether this could be what is going on. I hope this helps!

It is best to mix a small amount of chicken or canned food or chicken broth in with his dry food to encourage him to go back to that. Once he realizes there is no human food coming then and he is on a schedule , then you can gradually decrease the amount of canned food or broth until he is completely on dry food again
