Is Smartheart good puppy food? What are the best brands for puppies?

Beau is a real cutie! Yes, I agree you should switch food. There are better brands with higher quality ingredients. Science Diet, Purina ProPlan and Eukanuba are all great diets. My favorite brand (and what I feed my own dogs) is Royal Canin. For Beau, I would recommend this food: https://www.royalcanin.com/us/dogs/products/retail-products/pug-puppy-dry-dog-food Beau does not need canned food but you can give it as a treat or mix it in with his kibble every day. Pick a high quality, canned puppy food. Canned food does tend to have more calories than dry food so watch his weight closely. Good on you for doing this! Trusty needs a puppy formulated food still, and brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I personally feed my dogs Iams and they love it. Start the switch now, and do it slowly to avoid GI upset. Best of luck.

I would choose a puppy formula in small bite size for Kylie. Make sure to mix her old food in with the new food over a couple of days so you don’t upset her tummy. Shimar is so cute!! I think as long as your are feeding a high quality commercial puppy food then she is getting all the nutrients she needs. My favorites are science diet, royal canin, Iams, and Purina. All of these have been around for a long time and have several studies to back up their product. I hope this helps!

There are various opinions about Taste of the Wild and I personally prefer not to feed it. Since your dog is still a puppy I would strongly recommend feeding one of the reputable scientifically computed brands such as Hill's Science Diet , Royal Canine or Iams. Feed a puppy feed suitable for the size and age and your puppy will have the best start in life. What you feed into Bruno now, will pay off later in that you will have a dog who developed and grew up to his best genetic potential without health issues caused by insufficient nutrition.

I recommend that you go with a well-known brand that has a good track record of high-quality food that is well-tested. The brand you choose will depend on how you'd prefer to acquire it and how much money you'd like to spend. You can find quality food at all price points. On the lower price side, you've got brands that you can find at the grocery store, like Purina One. Middle-of-the-road brands can be found at big-box pet stores (e.g. Petco), and include Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet, Wellness and Royal Canin. Higher end foods can also be found at the big-box stores, but smaller company brands may be easier to find at small, private pet stores, like Innova and Merrick. Whichever you choose, be sure to change Joey's diet slowly over a week's time to prevent stomach upset. Good question! I recommend either Royal Canin Puppy food or Hill's Science Diet puppy food. Both of these companies do a lot of research and quality control and they utilize the expertise of veterinary nutritionists in formulating their diets. If you do transition Jax from one diet to another please make sure to do it gradually (over 4-5 days) to ensure he doesn't get an upset stomach.
