When can puppies stop drinking mother's milk? Is 1 month too early?

Hello. It is very unlikely that your pet has TD. This is primarily a problem in people that have been on long term metoclopramide therapy ( Reglan ), although there is some possible connection to the use of this medication in dogs & development of TD years later. If Lucky never received Reglan, then this is not TD. There are any number of neuromuscular diseases that could cause these symptoms & this includes parasitic, bacterial & fungal encephalitidies, & even cancer. These types of signs, called vestibular signs, can be a side effect of Metronidazole toxicity, however the signs tend to occur while a dog is taking the medication, and signs tend to resolve within a few days of stopping the medication. There are many causes of vestibular signs, such as a stroke, a mass within the brain, or something like a severe middle/inner ear infection. I recommend having Lucky seen by your veterinarian at their next available appointment for a physical exam and a neurologic exam. Based on these findings, your vet can try to localize the problem. Ultimately, they may recommend an MRI to determine the cause of Lucky's clinical signs. I hope this is helpful - best of luck getting care for Lucky!

Yes, that will cause diarrhea. In addition, dairy causes GI upset in dogs, so it's never recommended to give it to them. If Toby is old enough to be away from his mother (at least 6-8 weeks of age), then he does not need milk anymore. He should only be drinking water, and he can have puppy food. If he is stlll young, less than 6 weeks of age, you can safely give him puppy formula. I recommend KMR, you can get it from the grocery store or pet store.

Please have Maxi seen by your local vet for testing as soon as possible to help him stablize his condition. This cannot be treated for at home. I do hope that Maxi is going to be ok moving forward. Poor Max! Without any information about diagnostics, it’s hard to say. Viral infections like Parvo can cause this. An intestinal blockage could also cause the same signs. If there’s any chance that Max got into any human medications that could cause organ damage, he could also present this way. I recommend to have a discussion with your veterinarian and ask what the doctor is suspecting is going on. If Max has not been tested for Parvo yet or had any radiographs, these may be beneficial diagnostics. I hope your boy gets better soon! Please feel free to post any additional questions.

If you gave the medication as your vet prescribed it she should probably be fine. In rare cases of overdose adverse reactions include changes in mentation (depression, nervousness, restlessness) and behavior. It may also cause sedation. Causes of decreased appetite and diarrhea in a puppy is: intestinal parasites, viral and bacterial infection, food allergy/intolerance, ate something gross, toxin ingestion. Koffee is very young and at 4 weeks of age it is a critical time when sick. Puppies can deteriorate quickly due to dehydration and low blood sugar. Since he is likely unvaccinated and not dewormed, parvo virus and intestinal parasites are high on the list. I recommend taking Koffee to the Vet today.
