Why is my new puppy shivering, low energy, and bloated after guests?

Pet's info: Dog | Papillon | Female | 3 months and 14 days old | 2.3 lbs

Today My puppy was shivering intermittently and is low energy. She isn’t crying as much, jumping or playing as heavily. I am concerned that her belly seems a little bit bloated and she did not take the usual number of poos. She is eating, drinking, moderately which is normal. The sudden shaking is new today. We had guests over for the holiday today and there was change to her routine. Papillon Breed, only 4 days in her new home. Vet visit yesterday and she was healthy.

A change in routine, guests she did not know, new things, new food (I am sure your guests gave her treats from the table), all that can cause her to be irritated, and a little out of it. All of this is very strenuous for a puppy, and it just may need some rest to work things out.
I would monitor her closely, put her into a quiet place with some water and not feed her anymore today. Emphasize to your guests not to give her any treats.
If she is not back to her usual self by tomorrow noon, you may want to give her some boiled white rice and boneless chicken. If she does not eat, she needs to be seen by a veterinarian for an exam as she may be getting ill.

I think it's probably time to visit your vet ASAP as it sounds like Sugar is definitely experiencing pain. If she is very sensitive to new foods, I would be concerned something such as pancreatitis is causing her severe pain (and may show other symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, etc), or other causes like stuck food, etc. Until you can get to your vet, keeping her comfortable and resting, and on her regular diet strictly (or bland foods of boiled chicken and rice) is best to limit any further GI upset until the cause can be found.

My puppy drank a lot of water and is now shivering. Is this okay?

It is not uncommon for very small animals to feel a little chilly after drinking a lot of water, however, if Kylie continues to shiver for more than a half hour, or if this happens again I would consider checking in with your veterinarian. If Kylie starts having any signs of lethargy, vomiting, or diarrhea you should seek an emergency clinic. I hope this helps!

My dog vomited and is shivering and whining. What should I do now?

She is probably shivering because her body is trying to adjust after losing so much food and fluid when she vomited. Try to keep her calm and comfortable for now. You may want to see if she needs to get up and walk outside. If her abnormal behavior continues for more than a few hours you should consider taking her to be examined by the vet. I hope this helps. My 3-week-old puppy has a bloated belly but good energy. What's wrong?

If her breathing is normal and gums are normal pink, then there is a good chance this is just a worm overload. Sometimes it takes 2 treatments done 2 weeks apart to get rid of worms in young puppies. Ascites would almost always cause a pet to be lethargic and act ill. As long as her energy is good and everything else is fine, it is ok to monitor her for now and have your vet check her for parasites when they get back out of town. If she seems ill at any point, then its best to take her to another local vet for a check up. Best of luck with your young puppy Lady Jane moving forward. Take care. : )

Why is my 3-month puppy bloated, lethargic, and whines when touched?

If she hasn't been wormed then it is likely due to intestinal worm infestation, tomorrow at the vet's they will deworm her and probably vaccinate her as well, the deworming should resolve those symptoms.

My quick-eating puppy's tummy bloats, shivers, hiccups. Normal?

Puppies are funny, and when their stomachs are full, they look really bloated. It is important that part of the issue isn't caused by intestinal parasites, so I would recommend a dewormer. Then you can divide her daily food ration into 3 meals. You can also use a special bowl or treat toy to get Bonnie to slow down.
