My puppy is scared of her pee pad and licking. Does she have a UTI?

Hi, puppies can get urinary tract infections. I would watch her for urinating more frequently and in small amounts. At 7 months, she should be mostly house trained so this is not likely a behavior issue but it is still possible. I would take her to the vet for an exam if it happens a third time. They can put her on some antibiotics for this and she should be fine. Good luck!

I agree, that does look like a black fly bite. I'm actually wondering if he has a medical problem like a UTI. A UTI would certainly cause him to have accidents in the house. I recommend taking him into the vet. The vet can do blood work and a urinalysis to diagnose if he does have a UTI or not. If he does, the vet can prescribe medication to treat it. While it is normal (although frustrating) to have “good” days and “bad” days while house training a puppy, the episodes you describe may be an indication of something more serious, such as a UTI. This is definitely possible if Phoebe is straining to urinate, urinating small amounts, or has reddish colored urine and if you notice her licking her vagina more frequently. Hello, Licking the vaginal area excessively could be a sign of a urinary tract infection or vaginitis. A dog urinating in their sleep could be a sign of a urinary tract infection or urinary incontinence. An infection, kidney disease, or an endocrine abnormality could change the appearance or smell of her urine. Many dogs urinate when they are excited and that part is totally normal. I see what you mean in the picture provided, it looks like there is some blood there on the wee wee pad. I also see that Annie isn't spayed, so this could mean that she is going into heat for the first time. She is a small breed dog at seven months of age, and that age is when that can happen for the first time in small breed dogs. The other possibility is that she has a UTI, but I can't say for certain without seeing her in person. I would have her seen by a vet to determine if she is in heat or if she has UTI. Until she sees the vet, do not take her in public and do not let her be alone with any intact males. It is never recommended to mate a female dog during her first heat. I hope this helps.

From the clinical signs you are describing I would b considered mostly with pain in the lower abdomen. This combined with loss of control go urinary function could indicate an infection or inflammation of the bladder. I would advise a trip to the vet for a urineanalysis to diagnose.
