Why is my puppy licking her vulva, having discharge, and biting tail?

Poor girl. The brown staining is saliva staining from her licking. THe vulva also looks to be a bit swollen, likely b/c it is irritated. I would suspect that Aira has some vaginitis here. Visit you vet and they can prescribe some antibiotics to hopefully clear this up. Also if she is peeing more than normal and drinking more water, a urinalysis is warranted to check for a UTI. Until you can get her seen, you can wipe her vaginal area with baby wipes to help remove some of the debris and soothe some of the irritation. It looks like your puppy could have a pyoderma skin infection or possibly parasites causing the bumps around her vulva, ears and paw. I would guess that the discharge from your vulva that you are seeing is from vaginitis, but a urinary tract infection would also be possible. The loss of balance is concerning and could be due to an inner ear issue or a neurologic problem, although puppies this age are normally not very coordinated so it may also be normal for her. I would definitely recommend seeing your veterinarian for these issues - after a physical exam they may or may not recommend checking a urinalysis. They can prescribe medications for the skin issues if necessary.

Constant looking on the vulva can indicate an infection in the bladder. There’s not anything you can do for that at home so Bailey needs to see the veterinarian to have her urine tested for an infection or crystals. Try to get her examined today. Constant licking on the hind legs can have many causes but fleas are very common in the area. I recommend to discuss using an oral flea preventative such as Simparica with your veterinarian. If you give her this product and the licking stops, then you know it was due to fleas. In general you can wash her in an oatmeal type dog shampoo as this can help with itching as can an omega-3 fatty acid supplement for pets. It sounds like Margo may have an infection in the uterus or lower genital tract. This is most common following a recent heat cycle. I would advise that she be examined by her veterinarian to confirm this. If she does have a uterine infection, your vet can advise you about the best treatment which may include oral antibiotics or having her spayed depending on the severity.

Possible causes are: burning feeling from a UTI or crystals in her urine, impacted anal glands or skin issue or fleas on the back part of her. I would put her in the tub and rinse her off back there to see if it helps. If she is still agitated and crying then I would collect a urine sample and have her seen by a vet this morning. Oh great! The picture worked this time. The picture sure looks like pustules, which is what I was describing in my first answer about pyoderma. However, this is not a diagnosis without a veterinarian seeing the patient and perhaps even sampling the bumps to determine what they are. Transmissible venereal tumors are also possible. That is likely to be caused by a vaginal and perianal infection (probably secondary to a dermatitis in the perianal region). A check up is required to confirm this clinical suspicion and treat appropriately.
