My puppy has green boils on his head and tummy. What should I do?

Poor puppy. Kai has what appears to be a contact dermatitis or puppy pyoderma. This is usually caused by something coming in contact with the skin, such as urine, or is simply due to your pet still developing its immune system and being vulnerable to infections. This is usually easily treated with a short course of antibiotics prescribed by your vet. I would recommend scheduling an appt with your vet for Kai to get this resolved. Until you can get Kai seen, you can gently cleanse the skin with Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water. I hope that Kai's skin infection clears up well soon! Best wishes and take care. : )

It's hard to say without a picture. Puppies can often get small, pimple-like spots on their belly. They are related to changing hormones and go away on their own. To be sure, though, PIplo should be examined by a vet.

Most likely this is a mild skin infection (bacterial) and the green bump could be a small pustule. Puppies commonly get little skin infections on the belly area. You can try cleansing it with a mild soap (i.e. Dove) and warm water, letting it dry, and applying Neosporin to it twice a day. Sometimes the pets immune system and conservative treatment like this is enough to get it to resolve. However if it starts to get worse or starts to spread then it is best to get puppy seen by your vet for further investigation of the area and perhaps oral antibiotics or stronger topical antibiotic sprays to use on the area to get it heal.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It looks like Chowder has a skin infection. This is common in puppies due to their weak immune system. I recommend taking him to a vet for oral antibiotics. You can try bathing him in puppy shampoo and make sure he is fully dry, but oral antibiotics are needed to cure the pustules. Skin lesions like these can be caused by bacterial, parasitic or fungal infection, dietary or environmental allergies or sensitivities, immune system disorders, or a combination of the above. Sometimes puppies like Palmer can get a type of “puppy acne” along the belly as well. If the lesions do not start to go away in the next week, or if they start getting worse, I recommend making an appointment to have Palmer seen by your veterinarian to help determine the cause of the bumps you’ve noticed and to make sure they are treated appropriately. The vet will likely want to look at a sample from the area under the microscope to determine if there is an infection and to figure out what medication is appropriate for treatment.

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about Boondi. This is a bacterial infection caused by a staphylococcus organism which is a normal skin resident. This is very common in puppies due to an immature immune system, nutritional/intestinal parasite problems, and environmental causes. I would advise taking the puppy to your veterinarian for an examination. Your vet can advise you on treating this condition and also on providing the best preventive health care (vaccines, deworming, etc). If you cannot get to a veterinarian, I would advise a benzoyl peroxide medicated shampoo. Lather her up well with the shampoo and leave the lather on for 10 minutes so it can work. Rinse very well. Repeat this 2-3 times weekly until improvement occurs then decrease to once weekly until gone. She might need antibiotics to help clear this up. Good luck

It looks like she may have puppy pyoderma, which is a skin infection. The skin of the puppy is quite sensitive, and it can be common for them to get this skin infection around the genital area and stomach. This does need to be treated by a vet, she needs antibiotics, so I recommend you make an appointment for her to see her vet this week to get it treated. I hope this helps!
