Puppy has diarrhea, not eating, and eats everything. Vet visit?

If Bruno has had diarrhea and decrease appetite for 3 days I would recommend a visit to the vet. A young pup may have parasites, viral disease or a foreign body that can cause diarrhea. But at his age he can become debilitated quickly when sick so a vet visit at this point is probably a good idea. I hope he recovers quickly.

Your pups are so cute! Diarrhea and reduced appetite could be caused by parasites, change in diet, toxin ingestion, infectious viral diseases, blockage in the intestines caused by ingestion of a foreign body, or a mass/growth in the gastrointestinal tract. Parvovirus is also a possibility, particularly in a dog as young as Rocky, as you mentioned he is too young to have had all his boosters yet. Please make an appointment to have Rocky seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible, as diarrhea can easily lead to dehydration in such a young pup, and can be very dangerous if left untreated. In the mean time, if he is not eating well, you can try boiling boneless skinless chicken in water, shredding the chicken, and feeding her small amounts of the resulting chicken broth and cooked chicken with boiled plain white rice once it has cooled. Unfortunately, this is not normal behavior for a young puppy and is pretty concerning. At less than two months old, your puppy needs to eat regularly or he risks having low blood sugar, which can cause serious health problems. Vomiting is not typically caused by stress and all these signs make me worry about a more serious illness. Please have him seen by a veterinarian right away because his lack of appetite and vomiting are very serious.

I am sorry to hear about Coco. I would recommend a trip to the vet today. Given his symptoms, his age, and the contents of his vomit we worry very much about an gastrointestinal foreign body/obstruction. The vet can do an x-ray to see if there is any evidence of material left in the GI tract. If there is, they may give him fluids and laxative to see if it can pass or may recommend surgery based on how severe the problem appears. If no evidence of obstruction is present he may need symptomatic treatment for his upset stomach such as anti-nausea medication and antacids.

Baily is so cute! I am concerned though that he is not eating and having such intestinal upset. I would recommend you take Baily in for an exam with your vet as soon as possible. Puppies this young can get dehydrated very quickly and become quite ill. I am worried about the possibility of intestinal parasites, eating something he shouldn't have (dietary indiscretion), or even a bacterial or viral infection (like parvovirus). Baily may need some tests to see what the underlying cause is, such as a parvo test and fecal test. He also may need some anti-nausea medication, antibiotics, or even fluid therapy if he is dehydrated. I hope he gets back on track quickly!

It sounds like your big man normally has a very healthy appetite. The symptoms do seem pretty vague, but if they are becoming more frequent, it is definitely time to see your veterinarian. Lots of things could cause Cash to stop eating; everything from a virus, to a blockage from something he ate, or kidney or liver disease, and more. Your veterinarian will likely want to start checking some bloodwork and maybe getting abdominal xrays. The previous episode of diarrhea may or may not be related, but I think it is time to look into this further. In response to your question "could this be something serious", that is harder to answer. Your information doesn't say how old she is. If a young puppy then I would go in immediately. If an adult, then fasting food for 12 hours, then offering a bland diet of Boiled chicken and rice. If she won't eat, if she begins vomiting, or if there is blood in her bowel movement then she should be seen. Or at any time if she seems to be getting worse. I hope she improves soon.
