Puppy stomach bug recovery: Is her appetite still off after a week?

I'm sorry Buddy has been ill! Vomiting and diarrhea can definitely take a lot out of them, so it's a good sign that he's eating. I would expect that he should gradually feel better over the next couple of days if he's eating and drinking consistently. If at that point he's still not acting right I would have your vet recheck him. They may want check lab work to ensure nothing else is going on. Good luck!

You can try feeding him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days to see if that helps. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If he still is acting lethargic after this, then I would have him seen by a vet.

Yes this could be definitively due to diet. As a first approach, I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice lethargy or inappetence. I'm sorry to hear that Melow isn't eating well for you. It is normal for a puppy not to eat a lot the first day in a new home. It can be a stressful transition. However, it is abnormal for the lack of appetite to last several days. The vomiting is not normal either. Melow need to see a veterinarian. He is so young, I worry about him becoming dehydrated. Even if he is drinking some, it is likely less than if he was eating normally. He may require fecal testing and deworming or more aggressive care depending on his exam findings. Do your best to encourage him to eat and drink. You can add warm water to his dry kibble. Some dogs like canned food warmed up a bit as well. If it's been ongoing a week, I would think about scheduling a vet visit as there may be some minor GI upset or an underlying illness causing the change. If you see obvious signs of illness including lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, pain, refusing all food, etc, then seeking care right away is best.

You can put Cocoon bland food for two days, such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to regular food slowly over a few days. If this does not clear up the diarrhea or if the vomiting increases, or if your dog gets lethargic, it needs to see a veterinarian for a recheck.

Decreased appetite is concerning in a puppy because of the potential very serious gastrointestinal infections such as parvovirus that they can get. Monitor him closely for progression of his already decreased appetite, nausea (which may manifest as drooling, decreased appetite and lip smacking), vomiting, severe lethargy and/or diarrhea. If any of these signs are observed, have him evaluated right away. I think that if he is otherwise doing fine, then it is ok to monitor him for now.
