When should my pitbull puppy get rabies shot & what food is best?

If you feel like your puppy is weaker than her should be at this age then I recommend taking him to the veterinarian to be examined. He may have intestinal parasites (very common in young puppies) or could have something more serious like parvovivrus. You should also make sure he is fully vaccinated. Your veterinarian can give you a schedule of when he needs what vaccines. He should also be vaccinated for rabies at 12-16 weeks of age. Your puppy should be eating a large breed puppy food. Hello, congratulations on your new puppy. He will need 3 sets of vaccines 2 weeks apart each set. Vaccinations include to protect against distemper, parvovirus, parainfluenza, adenovirus, bordetella, and rabies. You should also discuss checking his stool for parasites and deworming him. Hi there and thank you for using pet coach! The food I mostly recommend is Science Diet. I have used their food for over 20 years in my own pets and have never had a problem with their food. My own dog was on their food for 20 years and did very well. He maintained an excellent body condition, hair coat was amazing and he loved very long. I contribute his longevity to a good diet and good care as well. If you are opposed to Science Diet, I also recommend Royal Canin, Natural Balance and Purina One. There are so many foods out there and it is easy to get caught up in the marketing game of "natural", "organic" and "grain free". As long as your dog is on a well balanced and complete diet is what matters the most. I typically recommend feeding a puppy food for the first 12 months and then switching to an adult food from 12 months to 7 years of age. Beyond 7 years I recommend a senior formula. Hello The vaccine schedule for an older dog is slightly different than for puppies as usually they require only 2-3 injections. However vaccines purchased from a store or online are not held to the same standards in terms of cold storage and handling so many times they can be damaged and ineffective. I recommend checking with your veterinarian as to which vaccines are recommended for your area (such as Lyme, Lepto) and what your pet will be exposed to and discussing a specific vaccine schedule for him. Your veterinarian can also give more exact price quotes and some corporate practices offer wellness plans for vaccines.

It's quite a difficult question as a lot depends on what you would consider affordable. Bearing in mind that more expensive foods usually work out similar as you end up feeding less. Personally for puppies I would try and give them the best at least at the start. I really like royal canin or alternatively Hill's made for the breed size.

She is cute! If she hasn't already received a disptemper/parvo combination vaccine then she should have one now. Other vaccines that may be necessary are leptospirosis, bordetella, Lyme, and influenza. She will also need a Rabies vaccine between 12 - 16 weeks of age. The best thing would be to have her examined by your vet and he/she can develop a vaccine schedule specifically for her based on her risk of exposure and her age. She will also need heartworm prevention, as well as flea and tick prevention and your vet can help determine which product is best for her.

Brands I like include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I would feed Gotham one of those. No, I wouldn't add cooked meats to his diet, he doesn't need them. You can give it to him as an occasional treat. Giving it too often will lead him to not each his dog food. I hope this helps!
