The best thing I can recommend is daily brushing with a canine toothbrush and canine toothpaste. I love the CET brand of dental products for dogs, they are excellent. Chew sticks are ok, and you can use something like Dentasticks as a daily treat, but they won't have as good effects as brushing. I hope this helps!

If 2-3 times per week is more feasible for you, it is still helpful. You will need a tooth paste for animals as the human forms have too much fluoride. HI, thanks for using Petcoach! I am sorry Ziggy is sick! Sadly there isn't a perfect treat to keep a dogs teeth clean. Veterinary dentists recommend brushing their teeth AT LEAST three times per week. Anything less isn't doing anything. If Ziggy has a lot of tartar build up already then it is best to have an anesthetic (put under) dental to have his teeth cleaned, X-rayed and extracted if infected. Great question! I really like the CET brand of dental pet products. I would get Voodoo a pet toothbrush and toothpaste, and brush her teeth daily. You can also get her Dentasticks as a daily treat.

My own preference, and what I use for my dog, is C.E.T. Enzymatic Oral Hygiene Chews (by Virbac). These chews, in conjunction with daily brushing, keep his teeth clean and his breath fresh. Be sure that any chew or dental product you choose has the VOHC (Veterinary Oral Health Council) Seal of Approval on the package.

For my own personal dogs, I like bully sticks, large rawhide chews, or cow or pig ears - all of these can be good options for chewing, and will help to prevent tartar build-up and periodontal disease. You may need to try a few different options for your dog to see what she likes. You should also supervise her closely at first to make sure that she is not attempting to swallow any of these items whole.
