This really depending on the cause of the limp. If there is sever muscular damage, massage could actually make the discomfort worse and if the limp is due to and underlying joint concern, massage may not do much. Unfortuantely we could never recommend and say it is ok to give your pet human medication if it is not prescribed specifically for your pet. There is too much room for human error when trying to microdose human medication to pets. Also there may be contaminants or other ingredients there that are not suitable for dogs, so it is best to use caution and stick with the pet formulated one that has been tested in pets. Also we are not legally able to prescribe CBD oils to pets in most states, so experimenting with this lies entirely on the owner and your research. The law has made it clear to us that we just don't know enough about CBD oil to competently prescribe it and educate owners on its use. With that said, there are some pet owners that say it has helped their pets with arthritis and pain, while others say it hasn't helped at all. It is still considered a supplement and is anectdotal, which means that there isn't enough research to say that it is going to be helpful for most pets and what conditions it can treat for. I would be cautious about heat or massage in the initial 2-3weeks as they are likely to encourage the pocket to refill and may encourage recurrence. Once resolved, it may help reduce scarring but the scarring itself although unsightly is generally not painful and helps prevent recurrence

CBD oil is very popular right now for dogs and people and there is some evidence that it could act as an anti-inflammatory and help with conditions like arthritis. There is not currently much research into it, so it’s difficult to know how effective it is and what the side effects may be. It is in a legal gray zone for pets and is technically still considered illegal at the federal level so veterinarians are not legally allowed to recommend or prescribe it.

Poor Millymoo! Your best option is to take her to an emergency clinic and if she is in that much pain or distress, I think you should go. If you cannot get her to an emergency clinic tonight then things you can do at home include a gentle massage for five minutes. You can do this two to three times. You can also apply a warm, not hot, compress twice. This can help to relax the muscles. If you have any omega-3 fatty acid supplements for dogs, this can act as a natural anti-inflammatory. It will not be as strong as the medication from your veterinarian but it may help. The key is to be gentle and not stress her. Also, she needs strict exercise restriction. So no walks, running, jumping, stairs or getting on the furniture. Do not walk her on a neck lead, only use a harness. Best of luck.
