How can I lighten my dog's fur safely without causing damage?

Some argue that changing the color of a dog's fur could cause undue stress as they are not used to seeing the color on themselves and others state that it could cause allergic reactions. Any of those arguments could hold true so whether you dye Molly's hair is up to you. I would just recommend using natural products or even use chalk (can find at pet stores) to add color to the fur. Hello. If Sisi's coat was discolored or stained by a shampoo or dip, I would take her back to the groomer to see if they have a reversal or a product that can lighten the coat back. This may be a normal aging change for her. As puppies lose their puppy coats the adult fur can change color and the skin pigment can darken also. If the skin looks normal with no sores I wouldn't worry about it. If she is itchy that may cause changes in the skin color. A veterinary visit is indicated if you are seeing abnormal areas on the skin.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sri Didymus is super cute! You can use hydrogen peroxide, dawn and baking soda. I am not sure if they will work. Worst case is you can clip the fur and it will grow back white. I know that isn't an instant answer but its a reasonable one! Good luck!

This can be due to a skin infection or allergies. You can check him for fleas to make sure this does not need to be addressed first. You can also get a medicated shampoo to bathe him in weekly to help clean the hair and hair follicle. Adding an omega 3 fatty acid and fish oil supplement to the diet can help with shedding Your vet can check the skin for an underlying infection or a low thyroid as these will need medication to clear

Hi there and thank you for your post! I would recommend using a shampoo, that you can pick up at your local pet store and bathe that area once per day for the next 14 days. If it does not come out, you may have to shave the hair off in that area to that the new hair will grow back the original color.
