Where to get help rehoming husky puppies I can't keep?

Its important to do research prior to purchasing a purebred or designer puppy. I recommend to tour the breeder's property and see how the dogs are kept. Also make sure the meet at least the mother but ideally the father too. Red flags are 'breeders' asking/offering to meet at a gas station or some other location, not allowing you to see where the dogs are kept or offering multiple breeds/having MANY dogs. If you find a breeder who only has a few dogs and likely only one breed, especially if they allow you to visit the property, its highly unlikely they are a puppy mill. They may have better luck finding breed specific rescues willing to take on Chihuahuas. In terms of treatment for anxiety and separation, I think the first thing they need to do is try to make Uki feel as comfortable as possible. If the dog isn't crate-trained, they need to get this done as soon as possible. Giving Uki his own space that he can make his den will give him a comfort zone that he may find as a nice area to settle down. Once this exists, this will be where he needs to stay during times when he is alone. In terms of treatment for separation, there are several natural and several pharmaceutical methods to deal with it. I usually recommend more natural methods first before jumping to pharmaceutical intervention. I would recommend trying things like the Adaptil Collar as well as the Thunder-Shirt. If neither of these seem to be successful, use of drugs such as Trazodone, Fluoxetine, and/or Alprazolam are all options for treatment. Hope this helps!

Hi there. I'm sorry to tell you this but Huskies are notorious for killing cats. It is unfortunately in their nature to chase and kill things that run from them....... This is going to be VERY difficult. If Villian did not run from him there may be a chance of getting some resolution but if Villain is scared (which is understandable) and he runs, the higher the chance your dog will eventually catch and kill him. I'm not trying to freak you out but I want you to be realistic. They are not a breed known to be good with cats or even small dogs. Of course there are some that are fine but if you have to play the odds.......most are not. That being said I feel like your only real shot is to have a dog trainer come to your house, assess the situation with all the family members and pets and then hopefully they can help you try to modify your dog's behavior and response to the cat. I will tell you, instinct is a hard thing to overcome. I recommend you try BarkBusters. They are really good. If they are friendly you could trot take some pictures of them yourself and try to put them on social media to find them a home. Also, you could look for a no kill shelter in your area so you know they wont put a time limit on their adoption. I hope this helps!

This is a difficult question to answer because it's all based upon her and your temperament. Huskies in general tend to be very active dogs who can become destructive when bored. They need lots of daily exercise to meet their energy requirements. They can also be very vocal dogs. Keep in mind, every dog is an individual so she may not act like this. ANY dog who is bored may develop bad habits. Being an outside dog means that she has been able to run around and has likely not experienced much structure in her life since she was not inside with the family. Living inside means rules, structure and routine. It's also unknown if she is housebroken or not. Taking on any pet is a big responsibility. Many huskies live indoors just fine. If you decide to adopt her, you will need to commit to daily exercise and be prepared for some bumps along the way. You may want to take off work for the first week so you can be home with her as she adjusts. You may also look into doggie daycare or a dog walker to come by and check on her during your work day until you know how she is adjusting. I can undeerstand that you are very sad, however I have to commend you for wanting the best for your puppy. You are a responsible person who realised that this is not the time for raising a puppy and therefore, rather than being selfish and letting the puppy suffer for it, you have decided to rehome it to a home where they have time for her.
