My French Bulldog puppies eat poop. Is a vibration collar okay?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I’m sorry to hear Lieo isn’t feeling well. I would recommend taking him to a vet right away to determine why he is sick. I would bring a fresh stool sample with you so the vet can check for microscopic parasites. There are many different types of parasites that can cause diarrhea and there is no one medication to treat them all. They may also want to test Lieo for parvovirus as this is common in young puppies and causes vomiting and diarrhea. Either way, Lieo needs medical treatment to prevent further fluid loss which will lead to dehydration. Once they have a cause they can get him medications to help him recover. I would recommend stopping mixing hot water with her food, this isn't good at all, and i also recommend feeding the same amount but divide it to 3 times a day instead of 2- until the age of 6 months.

Some puppies poop more often than others, but I agree that 6-7 times a day seems a bit excessive. The most common cause of issues like this in a puppy this age would be intestinal parasites - so I would recommend taking a fecal sample to your vet for analysis if this hasn't been done already. He/she can look at it under the microscope for evidence of worms like roundworms or hookworms, or other microscopic parasites like coccidia or giardia. If a problem is found, they can prescribe appropriate medication to treat it.

It really sounds like you have pretty much done everything we recommend in these situations. Often times dogs will "outgrow' this behavior but there is no guarantee. There is an old wives tale that says dogs do this due to a nutritonal deficiency. That has never been proven so I don't necessarily believe it but you can try giving Chaplin a multivitamin (like Pet Tabs) to see if that helps. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Daisy. You have a couple of options to try to control this behavior in your puppies. Hopefully they will outgrow it, but not all will. You can try placing Forbid powder on both of their food. Another option is meat tenderizer on their food. Finally, scooping the poop in the yard as frequently as possible to try to limit their access to it. I hope this information helps!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sadly I think that Mocha has developed a taste for their stool and it is behavioral. I would clean up aggressively after the puppies and prevent her from access the room where she could eat the stool. I am assuming the puppies will be leaving soon for their new homes so this should be only temporary. There is no medication or preventative to stop this behavior. I hope this helps!

I recommend to have your pup examined by the veterinarian today. Continued vomiting is concerning for something like an intestinal blockage although many potential causes are possible. It’s best to play it safe and not wait this one out. Best of luck.
