My 4-month Lab has a leg sore. Is eucalyptus oil toxic for dogs?

Since the skin is broken and/or inflamed, Bruno should be physically examined by your veterinarian. He may need antibiotics, anti-inflammatories or both. If there is a lump or mass associated with the sore, it should be aspirated to collect samples for pathology. Use an e-collar (cone) to prevent Bruno from licking it.

Hi there. It looks like Pepper needs some antibiotics. The hairless area and bump appear to be raised and infected. I would recommend taking Pepper to your vet and having them check the bump and prescribe medication to help it heal. She may also need a cone to stop licking it. I hope that helps. From the pictures, the skin appears red and inflamed. It does look like it is infected. While this may not be a true emergency, I would recommend getting in to see your veterinarian very soon. Pookie will need the area shaved and cleaned up. Your vet may prescribe an antibiotic for this as well depending. Until you can get to your vet, you can keep the area clean and dry and use a mild soap and water to clean the wound. If Pookie is licking it, you can put on ECollar on her to prevent licking.

Silver sulfadiazine ointment works wonders to heal wounds. Also, you need to keep the wound covered/bandaged until it is healed. We can probably help you better if you could post some photos of the wound.

It looks like an infection or a hot spot. Make sure you keep him from licking it. Also you can give him 1/4 teaspoon of children Benadryl twice a dayto help control the itching. Finally you can try some neosporin and Benadryl spray to see if it will heal. If it doesn't then I would consider trying to find a vet for an exam.

Treatment will greatly depend on the cause, however that looks like a hot spot. It should be seen by your vet, so they can clean it and provide you with some antibiotics and pain meds as needed. Until you can get to your vet, placing an Elizabethan (cone) collar on Hector to stop him from licking and worsening it, and keeping the area clean and dry can help, however if it continues to worsen it needs to be seen right away.

Rest Hershey. No running, jumping, or playing. Take him out to toilet on a leash, and bring him right back in when he's done. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. Be careful with the CBD oil. As of yet, we have very little research on CBD oil in veterinary patients, so we do not know what an appropriate dose might be, and if there are any potential health concerns or drug interactions in dogs.
