How to estimate pregnant dog's due date with unknown mating?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sadly we can not estimate how far along Snowy is by pictures. Dogs are only pregnant for 60-63 days. By day 28 you can see puppies on ultrasound and by day 50 you can see them on X-ray. I have personally never seen a dog miscarry from stress. If she doesn't give birth by 70 days from when you got your dog neutered you need to bring her to the Vet to confirm pregnancy or whether she is experiencing a false pregnancy. It certainly looks like she is in the second half of pregnancy - her mammary glands seem developed and her girth has increased. There are a few ways to determine when she might be due depending on whether or not you know the date she ovulated and/or the date she was bred. A radiograph can help determine how far along she might be in the last couple of weeks of pregnancy and can be helpful for counting puppies so you know about how many to expect. A progesterone level can help predict whether or not labor is imminent, and you can monitor her rectal temperature during the last week of pregnancy and watch for a decrease in one degree to know that labor is about to begin. If you have not seen a veterinarian since Peach was bred you should definitely plan to have her examined and make sure she is in good health - you can also discuss what to watch for during labor and what to do if there are problems.

The best way to tell how far along she is in her pregnancy is to take her into your vet for an exam. The vet can do a blood test looking for the hormone relaxin that is produced at 22 days gestation or later. Further along in her pregnancy, x-rays and an ultrasound can be done to better pinpoint at which point she is at in her gestation. Regular vet care is very important for a pregnant dog, so I would take her into the vet sometime this week for an exam.

If Bella has been in heat recently (within the last two months) and has had contact with an intact male, then yes she could be pregnant. The only way to know for sure is to have her seen by a vet.
