Dog yelping, tail tucked after yard time. Was he bitten or stung?

I recommend keeping a close eye on him over the next 24 hours and having him seen by a vet if these symptoms continue. It could be that Noble felt some pain, such as from his spine, neck, hips, or leg joints that caused him to yelp, and then it passed. Given that he seems fine now, I wouldn't be too concerned about it, but I would monitor him. Should he do that again, I would have him seen by a vet in the morning for a health check.

If he is otherwise doing well, you can go ahead and start him on a flea preventative. I like Bravecto and Frontline though there are many products available in the market that are also good. If only Milo could talk! This type of behavior could be related to something like anxiety or to pain/discomfort. I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian who will check for evidence of pain on the physical exam. Many times this type of sudden pain is related to intervertebral disc disease, discospondylitis, upper abdominal pain or a pinched nerve. Harvey may have injured his tail or he may be having an issue with his anal glands that are located right inside the rectum. This does sound like unusual behavior for Jack. There was probably something in the yard that spooked him and now he is acting afraid of it. I would recommend taking him out in the yard (with a leash on if he won't go willingly) and explore the area together. He may lead you right to the source of the problem. My suspicion is that there was some type of animal in the yard and it is now gone but that Jack can still smell it. Since he is otherwise acting normal and still eating and drinking I would not be too concerned. Just keep a close eye on him over the next couple of days to make sure nothing else changes. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Wager! I don't think his behavioral barking when your husband is out of town explains what happened this morning on your walk. I think what Wager did was a medical problem. I am glad he is at your Vet. Possible causes are: he was painful, had a seizure, heart problem (arrhythmia), sudden bleed into his belly or around his heart.
