My dog won't stand or walk and has bloody diarrhea. What should I do?

I would take Xina into a vet immediately. If she is pooping blooding, she could be suffering from hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, a foreign body, may have eaten something toxic, suffered trauma to the GI tract, has GI ulcers, or parvovirus if she isn't fully vaccinated. All of these causes are extremely serious and require veterinary treatment now. Please take Xina into a vet right away to diagnose what is causing her bloody diarrhea so she can be treated.

I am very sorry to hear that Honor is experiencing this issue, I am sure it is unsettling. From what you are describing, diarrhea which becomes liquid and has fresh blood in it, it sounds as though Honor has colitis, or inflammation of the last portion of the large intestines. There are several causes of colitis in dogs, ranging from bacterial infections, parasite infestations, IBD, or ingestion of contaminated food. Since you have only noticed these episodes over a few hours I would continue to monitor Honor at home. Start by resting his gastrointestinal tract for a few hours. Then Provide a bland diet of boiled boneless chicken breast and white rice and plenty of fresh water. If the episodes continue into the evening, if Honor becomes depressed, passes large amounts of blood, vomits, or seems very uncomfortable take Honor to see his vet. Unfortunately without seeing Yuki in person, we cannot say if she will be fine or not. Getting her into the vet with these symptoms as soon as possible is her best chance at being fine, and I strongly urge you to take her into an ER vet clinic or find a vet on call to see her now. If you have to wait until the morning, offer her water, no food, keep her warm and comfortable.

I did not see your question earlier, but another expert may have. I am concerned that Aki has parvo, as that what her symptoms sound like to me. Parvo is very deadly. To have the best chance of survival, your dog does need to be hospitalized. Parvovirus treatment consists of aggressive supportive care to control the symptoms and boost your dog’s immune system to help him win the battle against this dangerous disease. Dogs infected with parvovirus need intensive treatment in a veterinary hospital, where they receive antibiotics, drugs to control the vomiting, intravenous fluids, and other supportive therapies. This is very concerning. A problem called HGE or hemorrhagic gastroenteritis could be what is going on. This can be life threatening. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by a veterinarian immediately. They will probably recommend running some blood work and possibly some x-rays to determine a diagnosis. Hi there! Let me see if I can help with Bini. I'm sorry she is feeling so sickly. I have to be honest, she does sound like she is quite ill. I would be concerned that she is not eating, and also unable to keep water down. The loose stools are worrisome as well. When we see vomiting and diarrhea together, we worry that our dog has eaten something, and it may be causing a blockage somewhere. The other concern, of course, is an infection of some kind - whether is be a systemic infection, or from parasites in her gastrointestinal tract. Another concern is that Bini is not spayed, according to her description above. In some cases, female dogs that are in tact, can get an infection in their uterus, that can make them very sick too. If she has been in heat somewhat recently, I would put that on my list too. Regardless of the cause, Bini should be examined by a veterinarian, so that they made evaluate some Xrays of her gastrointestinal system, and first make sure there is not a blockage of any kind. Once that is ruled out, the focus will be on evaluating some blood work, to make sure that there aren't any infections or issues with any of th electrolytes or organs. The blood work will also help to see how dehydrated she is from all of the fluid loss. Bini will also probably be hospitalized and treated for her dehydration, and with some intravenous antibiotics and other medications to soothe the stomach, since she cannot keep anything down. I am so very sorry to hear about your dog. Based on your photos she looks severely emaciated and dehydrated, and possibly anemic (I can see her third eyelid in one photo and it looks quite pale). The possible causes are many and could include severe parasitism, infectious disease, autoimmune disease, organ failure, cancer, toxin exposure. Your dog needs veterinary attention right away if she is to survive, or to help her pass peacefully if you are unable to provide care for her. It sounds like she is suffering and she needs to be examined by a vet and have some testing done (such as stool testing and bloodwork to start) to try to determine why she is so ill.
