My boxer dog has tiny white dots in her eyes. What could it be?

It's a little difficult to tell from the pictures which layer of the eye the opacity is in, but I will discus the most common reasons for an opacity in the outermost aspect of the eye (the cornea). The first possibility is that if Lily had an ulceration of her eye, that the area could have scarred in which will result in tissue that is more white. I would have expected that you would have noticed that here eye was red, or she was squinting or tearing if that were the case. The most common reason that a corneal opacity will appear without any injury to the eye is actually a benign fat or cholesterol deposit. We don't know why some dogs develop them, but they tend to develop them in the other eye over time as well. I would recommend having your veterinarian examine Lily to verify that is what they think is going on. If that is the case, then there isn't any reason for concern. If Lily's eye is red or if she is squinting or rubbing her eye, please have your vet examine her right away. I hope that was helpful and answered your question. Oh dear! This sounds like something that definitely needs to be seen by a vet as soon as possible. Discharge from the eyes can be caused by an eye infection, an injury to the eye such as a corneal scratch or ulcer, allergies, or even chronic problem such as dry eye. The fact that one eye now looks cloudy is very concerning - this could be due to a severe corneal ulcer, an infection or inflammatory reaction inside the eye, glaucoma, or a cataract. Eye problems like this need prompt attention because there is a risk of permanent damage or even vision loss the longer it goes without treatment. Because of this, I would recommend taking Diesel to an emergency vet today - he/she can examine his eye and use a special stain if needed to check for an ulcer or other injury, and will prescribe appropriate medication to treat the problem depending on what is found.

Looks like that could be a little scar on the cornea (clear part of the front of the eye). If he is actively seeming bothered by it, please take him to your vet in case he has corneal ulcer currently. If it is not bothering him now, it could be a scar from a small corneal ulcer he had in the past. It could also be a lipid or cholesterol deposit, though those are usually very central on the cornea. It may be from a reaction from a bug bite or a scratch that occurred or an infection in the hair or skin. Clean it with mild soap and water and apply neosporin but be careful to not get any in her eyes. Take her to your vet tomorrow for a skin sample to find out the cause

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Carter! Possible causes are: skin infection, fungal infection, demodex or an immune condition call puppy strangles. His skin looks bad in the picture. I would recommend taking him to the Vet on Monday. Skin infections need antibiotics, demodex is treated with oral flea/tick medications like Nexgard, Simparica and Bravecto and puppy strangles is treated with steroids and antibiotics. Boxers are very prone to skin and other forms of cancer. While this looks well defined I recommend a veterinary exam and possibly a biopsy to see if it’s cancer. I am sorry to hear about Rookie! There are a variety of possible causes for this problem, including a bacterial skin infection, a fungal skin infection (ringworm), mites of the skin (these are microscopic so cannot be seen), autoimmune disorders, skin growths/tumors, and more. I would recommend making an appointment for Rookie to see his vet. They may recommend testing of the area such as cytology to check for bacteria or fungal culture to check for ringworm. Treatment may be possible but will depend on the underlying cause.
