My dog has a wart-like growth with brown substance. Should I worry?

Updated on September 23, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pekingese | Female | spayed | 14 years and 4 months old | 20 lbs

I was wondering if anyone had any idea what this was. I took her to the vet a couple of months ago and he said not to worry about it but now it’s filled with a brown substance.

It looks like a wart. I would just make sure you keep it clean. I wouldn't worry about it. If Dakota ever goes under anesthesia for any reason your veterinarian can remove it. If it is bothering her and in a good location sometimes you can remove these with a local anesthetic. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
