I would find out what shampoo it was that they used. It can be irritation from that. I would also look to see if there is redness on her skin and if there is I would have your veterinarian take a look. Sometimes dogs can get a little stressed if they were recently shaved down. Hi, and thanks for your question. Although pic would help to determine the underlying cause, this is probably due to an allergy, although it could also be infection or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment, then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try to discover the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollens, dust etc etc). Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair any possible skin lesions (like steroids and antibiotics). A sudden diet change can cause digestive upset, especially if the switch was sudden. In most cases, a gradual switch is needed to help the body adjust to the new food. It would be best to pick up any food for a few hours, and then offer a bland meal of boiled chicken and rice to help settle Jack's stomach, then return to his old food. Once his tummy has settled down, you can then start transitioning to the new food over a period of 7-9 days (I would recommend only adding in one new food at a time, instead of both a new wet and dry food, to minimize upset). You can add in 25% new food to the mix every 2-3 days as long as he seems to handle eating the mix. If he continues vomiting, worsens, or switching back to the old diet doesn't improve his symptoms, then it is best to seek veterinary care to rule out any other underlying issues or illnesses that may be the cause of his vomiting.

If you caught him chewing on something today, my concern is that he chewed up something else at an earlier time and may have a foreign body or toxicity. Stress can certainly cause vomiting and diarrhea in some situations but in a puppy that is used to being left alone, I am more concerned about foreign body, parasites or viral disease. If he is active and alert you can feed small frequent meals of his regular dog food (just a handful at a time every couple of house) if no vomiting then continue to monitor. Since both Buster and your pug experienced vomiting after the diet change, it stands to reason that the new diet may be associated with this issue. However, Buster’s ingestion of Mobic (meloxicam) could also be associated with his GI upset. Overdoses of meloxicam can also cause kidney damage, which can also result in lethargy and vomiting. Since Buster is still lethargic, it would be best to take him to his vet for an exam and blood work to check his kidney values. If his vomiting continues, he will also likely need abdominal xrays to determine if an intestinal obstruction is present due to the toy that he ate. After any possible medical issues have been addressed, it may be best to avoid using this particular diet. Just remember that anytime you change a dog’s diet to do so gradually by mixing the foods together over 5-7 days. I hope this helps and that all goes well!

Chronic vomiting in dogs is pretty concerning and can be caused by gastritis, ulcers, foreign body obstructions, pancreatitis, and intestinal parasites. Other internal issues, for example kidney or liver disease, can make dogs nauseous as well. Sometimes, dogs will vomit yellowish liquid if they re extremely hungry and anticipating their meal. You can try feeding Urban a little later at night to see if this helps (this only applies if he eats meals rather than picking throughout the day).
