My dog won't eat and is vomiting. She needs surgery, what now?

Loss of appetite and vomiting can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Layka evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. You can offer a bland diet which may help. This diet could be composed of rice, boiled chicken, ham, turkey, lean hamburgers or low fat cottage cheese. It sounds as Zazu is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

Poor girl. It is not normal for a pet to have continuous vomiting and lack of appetite post dental extractions. If she was sent home with an NSAID to take that helps with pain and inflammation, then that could be the underlying cause of her symptoms. This would be considered an adverse reaction to the medication. If she seems like she can't control her vomiting and is very unstable, then yes an ER visit may be best for her. At the very least she needs to be seen within the next 12 hrs if possible, to get her treatment to stop the vomiting and help settle her stomach. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am so sorry that Sasha is so ill! Based on your pictures Sasha looks very sick and very thin. Possible causes: infected uterus since she is not spayed, cancer, foreign body (ate something that is stuck in her stomach or intestines), or intestinal parasites. I would need more information about what tests your Vet ran: blood work, stool sample or X-rays of her belly? If those things have not been done then I would recheck with your Vet as soon as possible. An infected uterus and a foreign body are emergency surgeries and can be life saving if done early. If she has cancer the best thing would be to discuss humane euthanasia since Sasha is suffering. I am very sorry and I with you and Sasha the best.

He should be examined by a vet to determine the cause, especially if he is lethargic. He could have an infection, parasite, pancreatitis, kidney disease, liver disease, endocrine disease, obstruction/foreign body. Your vet can run labwork and take xrays to help diagnose and prescibe medications to treat. He may need fluids to prevent dehydration and medications to control the vomiting.

Poor Nimmi! There are many reasons she could be displaying the signs. She could have parasites in her G.I. tract, she could have a foreign body in her stomach or intestines, she could have inflammatory bowel disease, kidney disease, cancer, and the list goes on. because there are so many different reasons and clinically they look the same, she needs to see her veterinarian and needs to have tests run to figure out what’s going on.
