Why is my dog throwing up green mucus and undigested potatoes?

Vomiting is a very common symptom in animals and can be caused by something going on with the GI tract or any other organ system. If the tubular structure is grass it is possible he vomited that up after eating a large amount of it or if he previously ate something and defecated it out. Sometimes pets can vomit after straining to defecate as well. One of the main concerns with vomiting in animals is foreign body obstruction, which can be an emergency. The character of that vomit is concerning. The best plan would be for him to see your vet for an exam. Bloodwork to rule out extra GI causes and xrays are likely to be recommended as the first steps. It sounds like your pup is having some sort of gastrointestinal distress. This could be from a virus, parasites, something she ate, or a metabolic issue. I'm sorry to hear that Stinky isn't feeling well. I can't tell if the soft stool are vomiting are common for her or a new thing. If long term (more than a month), it could be caused by intestinal parasites, food intolerance or allergy, or less likely an endocrine issue. If it's a sudden change, she could have caused an acute entrogastritis by eating something different/bad, could have an infection, or many other causes. If she's eating well and energetic, it's not generally an emergency and you can wait to see if she gets better with time. A daily probiotic can help (anything you find at a store is fine, or you can buy Fortiflora on Amazon). If the vomiting has been going on for more than a few days, or is frequent (more than a couple times a day) I would recommend a vet visit when possible

Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If she vomits the bland diet, refuses to eat the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away.
