My dog is vomiting after Cabergoline. Are these side effects?

The first thing I would do is ask myself if the Galliprant has helped at all with the pain and lameness associated with the leg. The next thing I would ask myself if whether or not any of these other problems existed prior to your original vet visit, or if they occurred immediately after the Galliprant was administered. In general, Galliprant is an extremely safe medication that has almost no known side effects, EXCEPT for vomiting. Panting and trembling could be caused by the general discomfort from the vomiting episodes, or it can be a result of the pain she's experiencing. Ultimately, if the Galliprant is the cause of the vomiting, obviously discontinuing this medication may be in her best interest even if it is helping with the pain. Other medicatiosn are available to addres pain and inflammation that may result in few side effects. You will need to speak with your primary vet about these findings and possibly schedule another visit if need be. Hope this helps.

No, those are not signs of early pregnancy. Dogs do not get "morning sickness" like people do. Her symptoms are most likely related to the mis-mating injection she received. I do not know what type of injection is used in India for mis-mating however the one we use here in the US causes these side effects: anorexia, excitation, depression, vomiting or diarrhea. Some dogs may also be at risk for getting a severe uterine infection after the injection. The injection we use here works best and has less side effects if you wait to administer it after their heat cycle is finished. If I was your vet, I would have waited to administer the injection for a couple weeks. That being said, I do not know what medication they used. I suggest you contact your vet and find out more information and ask them about these symptoms she is having. IT is very difficult for me to say much without knowing what was used. Hope this helps. This can be a side effect from the medications. I'm particularly worried about the carprofen. We generally recommend discontinuing the use of Carprofen if they are having vomiting and/or diarrhea. It's best to discontinue the Carprofen and Gabapentin for now until you can contact your veterinarian. They will likely want to examine Harley and possibly prescribe some different medications for now. The main side effects of ketoconazole are nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. The nausea can cause loss of appetite. Ketoconazole can also cause harmful liver effects so I suggest you talk to your vet about her symptoms. The extra dose probably caused the vomiting. Doxycycline does cause vomiting as a side effect. If the vomiting resolves, then I would not be concerned. If the vomiting persists, contact your veterinarian.

With this much vomiting I would be worried about the possibility of Penelope eating something she shouldn't have, such as a toy or other foreign material, which could have caused a blockage or obstruction of her intestines. The topical flea and tick medication should not cause her to vomit. I recommend offering Penelope a small amount of boiled chicken and rice, and see if she tolerates this. If she vomits this up and/or cannot even keep water down, she should be seen by your veterinarian for x-rays. If she can eat a small amount of this bland diet, I recommend feeding this boiled chicken and rice for the next 2-3 days and slowly transitioning her back to her usual diet. I hope this is helpful!

Vomiting and inappetence can be observed with conditions such as gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction, among other possibilities. She may be having side effects to the medications administered. Hair loss and scratching are likely due to allergies. For this reason, I highly recommend that you have Shelby evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible as I am afraid she is likely becoming dehydrated. They would be able to check for these possibilities and also check her hydration status and give her medications to make her feel better. Good luck!
