My Pitbull has trouble pooping and her anus isn't closing. Emergency?

I don't think this sounds like an emergency. Unless you start seeing active bleeding from the anus or blood in the stool, this isn't something that can't wait until the morning. You might be in for a rough night if your Pongo doesn't stop whining, but I think thing should be fine. Obviously if you start to see an increase in the severity of clinical signs or any additional signs, you might want to repost on here for an updated opinion from one of our experts. Hope this helps.

It sounds like she is strained to defecate, likely due to loose stools. Has she been vaccinated? Has she been dewormed or had a negative fecal exam for parasites? If she was eating I wouldn’t be as concerned, but with the poor appetite I am very concerned. Parvovirus or intestinal parasites are high on my list of concerns. Please have her seen by your veterinarian as soon as possible. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon.

It is a little difficult to say exactly what is going on with Daisy - she may have a recital prolapse (a condition where some of the tissue in the rectum actually comes out) or chronic irritation if she is scooting on carpeted areas. Scooting may be related to anal gland impactions, infections, or intestinal parasites. I recommend having Daisy seen by a vet as soon as possible because she is likely uncomfortable and the conditions above require treatment. I hope all is well!

Ouch, poor Luna! Based on the pictures you provided (thank you for that!), they do not look overly red, swollen, and there are no signs of blood. As long as she is eating and drinking normally, going to the bathroom normally, and otherwise behaving normally, she can wait until the morning to see the vet. I would put an Ecollar on her to prevent her from licking at her anus, and you can make one at home. I will put a link below on how to do that. If she is in a lot of pain, isn't eating, is lethargic, and/or is having trouble going to the bathroom, then I would take her into a vet now. I am sorry to hear about Mario. If his energy level has been normal today and he is not vomiting, and has been eating and drinking, and he is able to relax and go to sleep then he can probably wait until the morning. If, however, he has been vomiting, is lethargic, or he is unable to rest then you may consider a trip to the emergency vet.

Although a picture of it would help to determine the severity of the problem, your description is compatible with a wound breakdown. Nothing to be worried about right now (so I do not think an emergency consult is needed) but a buster collar would be helpful to avoid any licking (if any) and I would recommend to keep the area clean with water. Tomorrow a vet check up would be needed to confirm this suspicion and treat appropriately. Antibiotics will be required.

Yikes! Sorry to hear that happened. Ideally yes I would take her to a vet for an exam to make sure everything is ok. While a prolapse is possible, I don't think its likely following this event. However, if there's major trauma, antibiotics would be necessary.
