Is a tick collar safe for my dog already on Bravecto and Lyme shot?

Typically isn’t not recommended to combine two different flea and tick treatments. Because there is another month left of the Bravecto, I would wait until that’s done before putting the Seresto collar on Rissa. Best of luck.

These are different drugs and do not negatively interact, so it's OK to give the Bravecto, but it may be unnecessary. Sometimes owners will still see fleas and ticks on their dogs, but they are dead. I recommend checking to see if they are truly alive before giving the Bravecto. You could use both if you wanted to, as these two products work in different ways and do not have any harmful interactions. But, using both would be unnecessary - they both cover fleas and ticks. Because of this, I would recommend using one or other other, rather than both.

Bravecto and Advantix contain different drugs that work in different ways - it is safe to give the two together. You should also be sure that Zeke is on a heartworm preventative - this is the main disease in dogs that is spread through mosquitoes.

There is no reason to see a vet at the moment, usually the tick bite itself is not an issue, it's the disease that they can potentially transmit to the dog (tick fever, lyme). These diseases usually do not show up right away, it usually takes several weeks, sometimes more. You might want to add a seresto collar on top of the Bravecto in case you see any ticks on him again.

Hello! You should be able to use both Frontline and either a Preventic or Seresto collar, but only one collar. There should not be any interactions between any of the medications. I think using two preventives for hiking in the northeastern US is an excellent idea to prevent ticks and tick borne disease. I would also recommend looking into getting Winston vaccinated for Lyme disease as an additional precaution. I hope this is helpful!
