My dog is throwing up and won't eat. Should I take him to the vet?

Vomiting and inappetence can occur from many conditions such as foreign body ingestion and obstruction, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. I am concerned that he could be showing signs of an obstruction which is something that requires therapy which sometimes includes surgery. I recommend that you have Jager evaluated by a veterinarian at this point for further assessment and treatment. This will likely require bloodwork and abdominal imaging in terms of diagnostics. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least your veterinarian could start him on medications to make him feel better. In the meantime, keep water available at all times to try to prevent dehydration. Good luck and have a good night!

He should be examined by a vet to determine the cause, especially if he is lethargic. He could have an infection, parasite, pancreatitis, kidney disease, liver disease, endocrine disease, obstruction/foreign body. Your vet can run labwork and take xrays to help diagnose and prescibe medications to treat. He may need fluids to prevent dehydration and medications to control the vomiting.

Poor guy. With him being this ill and it lasting through the night, the best course of action is to take Shaggy to your vet to get examined and treated. The vet will need to do a complete physical exam and likely some testing (i.e. bloodwork) to help diagnose the underlying problem so that we know how best to help Shaggy moving forward. Just about every disease can cause these symptoms, so it is hard to say what the possible cause is, but the vet should be able to gather more information after you go in. I hate to hear that Pantufla is not feeling well! Just like humans, there are many many causes of vomiting and some of the causes can be very serious. Any pet vomiting beyond 24 hours should be examined by the veterinarian. Any pet who is vomiting more than twice in a day or not holding down water also needs to be examined by the veterinarian. I am concerned that the shaking you are seeing indicates abdominal pain which is very worrisome for an intestinal blockage or pancreatitis. I recommend to have Pantufla examined today. I worry that she will become dehydrated being such a small dog. Based on her exam findings, treatment can be recommended or diagnostics if necessary. For example, fluids can be given under the skin to rehydrate her and anti-nausea medication to control any further nausea and vomiting. I hope this information helps!

It sounds as Teddy is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

Poor girl. She may have an internal illness that is making her not want to eat. Since it has been more than 24 hrs I would encourage you to take her to your vet to get checked out. She may have an infection, organ malfunction, or a severe stomach upset from something she ate. She will likely need medications through your vet to help her get back on her feet. In the meantime you can try offering her small amounts of Pedialyte non-flavored (diluted 50:50 with water) and small amounts of a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese.
