Dog has tan bumps with black dots on snout. Could they be ticks?

I would not be concerned about this. It looks to be either a papilloma wart or a histiocytoma (benign tumor) both of which are common in young dogs. Usually these things will go away on their own within 4 to 8 weeks. If it gets larger in that a time frame or by 8 weeks it has not gone away then he should see your vet. Hope this helps. This is likely a benign skin mass and likely what we call a sebaceous adenoma. These are benign and develop in older animals. Of course it is impossible to say for sure just by looking at it. You would need to have this removed and sent for testing to confirm what it is. However, with the thousands of sebaceous adenomas I've seen, there is a really good chance that is what you are seeing. I typically remove these during another procedure such as a dental cleaning since the animal will already be under anesthesia. If there are no upcoming procedures that need to be done, then monitoring these is just fine. Removal of these when they break open or become infected is generally recommended or when they bother the animal.

That looks suspicious for a tick! Sometimes dermal lesions/skin tags can look like this. If you are not sure this is a tick, I recommend to have Jax examined today by the veterinarian. If it is a tick, it needs to be removed asap. Also, depending on disease prevalence, Jax may need to go on an antibiotic if tick borne disease is common in your area. If Gabbana doesn't seem bothered by the spot you may just want to keep an eye on it for now. However if the area is itchy, changing in size or appearance rapidly, bleeds or oozes discharge, or is just bothersome to your pup, having a vet take a look at it is best. Keeping Gabbana from scratching or pawing at it with the use of an Elizabethan (cone) collar may also help it heal and prevent further injury.

A couple of things come to mind as possibilities. This could be an acute hypersensitivity reaction to something - bug bite/sting, perhaps - or possibility a severe bacterial infection called furunculosis. There are also some immune-mediated/auto-immune diseases that attack the top of the nose. See your vet about this. An appropriate treatment plan might be to start antibiotics and if no improvement after 2 weeks consider a biopsy to obtain a definitive diagnosis.

This may be a cyst or a tumor, or a pimple (little abscess). You should have it examined by your veterinarian as tumors should be removed ASAP, especially if they are of a black color. An abscess can usually be treated with antibiotics and/or be lanced, and a cyst can be evacuated. Your vet may want to do a fine needle aspirate (he takes some material from the bump with a needle and then looks at it under the microscope) to determine whether the mass is concerning. You can also watch it for a few days and see whether it goes away again. I don't think it is anything terribly worrisome.

This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign.
