My dog's eyes are swollen, pink, and have mucus. Why is he aggressive?

This is an emergency. If the eye ball is deviating to the side suddenly then there may be a serious neurological problem or your dog suffered a trauma that may have damaged the eye or the muscles that are keeping the eye ball in the right place. Please take your dog to a veterinarian right now, as this could compromise her eye sight and also may be very painfull.\\.

This looks like a swelling of Poppy's conjunctiva as opposed to the eye itself. It could be due to an allergic reaction or infection such as conjunctivitis. She will need eye drops and antinflammatories to settle this down so go to your vet as soon as you can. In the mean time pressing a cooled tea bag on the outside of the eye can provide some relief.

It seems like a possible eye infection or allergic reaction (the other eye seems slightly affected too, unless it is always this way). you should take Krissy to your vet ASAP in order to get it checked and treated, it will probably require a course of antibiotic eye drops.

He can have a possible infection or conjunctivitis since it is affected both eyes. Since the discharge is getting worse and he does not want to open his eyes, it is best he sees a vet to determine if there is a scratch on the cornea or just an infection. There is topical antibiotics +/- a steroid to help clear them. The only thing you can do at home is rinse with sterile eye wash and try to apply a warm compress to help with the swelling.

Eye problems are always very concerning and Pup Pup will need to be examined by a veterinarian ASAP. Corneal ulcers and injuries can cause loss of vision, are painful and can be caused even by crusty eye lids scraping on the eye ball. The fact that the eye is swollen and the the lower lid is drooping does point to a more serious problem. Please take her to an emergency vet today.

Poor girl. It would help if you posted a picture here, but it does sound like Ayumi has possible conjunctivitis. If the discharge is yellow or green, then there is an infection that should be checked by your vet. The vet needs to do an eye stain to check for any ulcers/scratches on the eye surface, and then prescribe eye ointment/drops to allow this to heal. It is possible that blowing in her face could have inadvertently caused dust or debris to go into her eye and cause irritation or there could be another cause altogether. Eye problems in dogs can't be treated with anything over the counter unfortunately, so its best to get her seen by your vet soon for treatment. Olini needs to see a vet as soon as possible. Potential causes for the sudden change that you see in the eye include severe conjunctivitis, corneal ulcer or abrasion, glaucoma, uveitis, and trauma. I can't quite tell from the picture, but it may be proptosed ("popped out"). If you have an emergency vet clinic open near by, this would be a case that I would advise seeking emergency care.
