My dog pulls people off swing sets. How do I desensitize her to them?

Updated on September 23, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 10 months old | 50 lbs

Can you give me a good article on canine desensitization? Preferably if possible on the specific topic of swing sets? Sarah tries to pull people off swing set because she doesn't understand how they work and I'm wanting to know the exact steps to desensitize her because that is a dangerous Behavior someone's going to end up with a broken bone or a concussion especially her

You likely won't find anything specifically referencing swing sets, but you can gradually desensitize Sara on your own. Start by having her on a leash at a distance from the swings for short periods of time. Gradually decrease the distance while increasing the time as she progresses. Correct any negative response immediately and praise/reward her when she responds appropriately. Be consistent in training. It will take time and patience, but you can do it!
